Somebody write the music and lyrics and we can have our very own Christmas "Cinderella" panto.
Guess who provides the ugly sisters.
And guess who runs off with the prize and marries the prince?
I haven't got a clue how this one is going to pan out, but a fair estimation of who might be paying in the end.

I think whoever takes over there has got a really hard job due to our success, I dont believe that this city has the catchment area to have 2 biggish sized clubs. I mean if vale got to the championship, and we stayed where we are now, what attendance could they realistically expect? 10,000? its never going to make them much money is it or even a sustainable championship club.

More Comatosed Junkie than Sleeping Giant.

The claim that Port Vale is a sleeping giant makes Cardiff's claim to the same title, quite realistic! ;D
Having said that - I wish Vale no ill. I'm old enough to be from a generation who hope they survive - although I accept that there will always be a glass ceiling for Stoke's second club.

I can't see how we could have 2 "big" clubs in Stoke-on-Trent, Vale don't have a big enough catchment area IMO.

What interests me is that when Ryder pulled out they didnt get deducted 10 points through admin as they had other offers on the table? 1.... Was his one of the offers and in which case why didnt he come to the fore straight away ? 2....If it wasnt why werent they deducted the 10 points? 1. It hasn't taken that long seen as the Ryder deal was done and dusted and everybody else had given up and forgot about it, then the administrator phones up six months later and says "remember how you were interested in buying that football club?..." Not something where you go "I'll mail my cheque tomorrow" 2. They entered administration in March and are still there now. They agreed a CVA, and that CVA is still in place. Rotherham, Leeds, Bournemouth and Luton couldn't agree to a CVA, and so were deducted points again.

In all fairness when we were in the Championship we were hardly getting massive crowds, even in our promotion season it wasn't until the Bristol Game where we got an attendance over 20,000. Well that was my memory of it anyway!

Tried to take over Carlisle and failed. I recall they wanted to give their club to a fat bloke in an old cavalier some years ago so that is embarrassing

That's all well and good and no hard feelings to anyone but is there really another 15,000 Vale fans waiting to jump out if they got into the top end of the championship? (If Lone Street actually had seats)

Agree. The only way Vale could be a big club, is if some marketing genius could somehow persuade the glory-hunting inbreds from the northern estates to actually follow their local team. The problem is, these SCFC-hating glory-hunters are mostly nothing more than stains on existence, so is it really possible that they could be inspired to de-tatch themselves from the only (hollow) association with success they will ever experience, in return for Port Vale!? ??? I don't think so. But I'd be happy to be surprised.

Believe me, Paul Wildes is not in it for the long haul. Being a venture capitalist his one and only aim is to get the company (Port Vale FC Ltd) into profit and then move on.
Mostly venture capitalists want their money back plus a 'return' in 5 years or less.
Because of the relatively small amount of money he's risked, if eventually it all goes pear shaped, then he doesn't lose a fortune. In this respect, his track record isn't that great judging by the number of failed ventures he's taken over and then had to dissolve (liquidate).
On the other hand if his influence does turn the company into a profitable enterprise, then once another buyer is found, he'll be able to sell it on at whatever profit he's been able to accrue.
Because of his many other 'interests' he almost certainly won't be taking an active role in the business, more likely he'll appoint a new MD or CEO to oversee his investment.
Nobody of course knows how all this will eventually pan out, but given the state of the economy and strong competition in the Stoke-on-Trent area (SCFC) this will almost certainly turn out to be one of his more risky ventures.
