I got the the impression at Chelsea that away numbers of fans have fallen? If so, would it be possible for SCFC to subsidise coach travel to help reduce the costs?

Seemed like there were more at the Chelsea game on Saturday, than there were for the match at Stamford Bridge last season.
It is an expensive day out, travel, tickets, food etc - it all mounts up. However, the official coach cost £19 - Can't be any complaints about that.

On that subject , can I ask away day fans a question ? As a London based Stokie I used to do a lot of away games , down this way. But over the last few years ,because I take my 11 year old to the home matches , I've got out of the habit of going to away games as he's too young to come and apparently that would be a "Well bad snide !!" to go without him. Can I ask then , Is 11 still too young to be exposed to the completely different "away" matchday experience ! I'm not thinking of the language , he's used to that and a future terrance wag ,more thinking of the the pitch view due to the away contingent seem to be on their feet throughout the match ! Cheers for any feedback

As long as he's not a midget he'll have a good view at most grounds. I've been taking mine since she was 11.

People can't justify spending £50 on a ticket, £20+ on travel and any extra money you spend throughout the day.
The reasonably priced away days always have a decent following.
Even the 'best support in the world' (The Geordies) took the same allocation as us, I know it's much further, but it's hitting everyone not just us.

It was the cost stopping most people going... don't blame them either and no 11's a fine age to take your lad football have been going away since a much younger age my self with no issue.

More there Satdee than last season and, like at Spurs last season, we made a hell of a noise!!!
£50/£47 tickets and King's Rd prices probably has a lot to do with it?
Well done all those who could do it.

I don't want to be too PHW (& I am generally in favour of Pulis), but some of the football we've played away from home in the last couple of years doesn't make me inclined to part with £30 + on ticket, £20 + on travel + another £20 on incidentals.
Yes, I am a Stoke City fan, but not to the exclusion of everything else, you can get better entertainment for less than seeing us defend a 1-0 defeat at Fulham or go for 0-0 with Birmingham.
That said, when we are playing free flowing, attractive football then it is totally worth it. Just not for an insipid performance leading to a 1-0 defeat with us having no shots on target and apparently no clue as to how to turn in a performance.

I haven't been to away matches for a couple of seasons but my girlfriend and I are very tempted with a trip to Anfield. With tickets, travel and food it'll be a 150 quid touch by the end of the day but if its a good away performance I'm happy to pay. Be nice to get some points there this year

If our away support has dropped off then it is most likely due to the fact that the fare on offer has been totally and utterly shite. Even the biggest die hards amongst us get sick and tired of paying ridiculous amounts of money only to watch us roll over and have our bellies tickled. Chelsea cost me £ 100+ on Saturday. £ 50 for ticket, £ 4 for breakfast, £ 10 to park at the hospital near to the ground, £ 2.50 for a bus ticket to Parsons Green, £ 15 for a round of drinks + whatever the fuel costs were to get there and back. As it happened, I thoroughly enjoyed the game and I enjoyed our approach to it. If we approached all our away games like that, you would hear few complaints from me. The performance was good and the Stoke support stood side by side our players for 90 minutes plus, singing there hearts out and easily out shouting our hosts (not that this particular feat is too difficult to achieve). ps...If you kid enjoys going to home matches, 11 is too late to take him but better late than never. Get him there. It is an absolute must! Stop being "well bad snide"!

11 is old enough. If you are worried about his view (with fans persistant standing) - look for grounds that have an upper tier.
Stamford Bridge for example - in the upper tier, most people sat down - and as it was unreserved, those that wanted to stand - moved to the back. Upper tiers are much better 'tiered' and even if people do stand up, you have a good chance of still having a decent view.
You should take him to Tottenham, sit in the Upper - great atmosphere, not too expensive either.

BM True, but I've wasted my money so many times in the past that I am a bit more focussed on value. It's not losing per-se that bothers me, but the all so often appaeant lack of a plan which gets us 3 points and provides entertaining football.

£100 - £150 for tickets and fuel for the pair of us to watch abysmal performances last season, can't justify it any longer.
