I guess the point I was trying to make is that you are asking a VERY broad question. It's like saying "Architecture...any advice?"
What exactly are you looking for guidance on? Design principles? Design tools? A CMS? etc. etc.

I use a Mac in the office but have seen an app for the ipad also. Nothing fancy needed really. I used to use dreamweaver a few years ago but then employed people to do it for me. They now seem to be trying to make things way more complicated (and expensive)that it needs to be or simply want me to do it myself using a template that they want to sell me !!!

Without knowing any particulars I'm reluctant to give any advice one way or another. Do you have a content management system in use or are they perhaps proposing to move you over to one from a bespoke framework? It sounds like these recommendations from the developers are recent -- if so, what was the business need they were responding to? New sections to the site? Redesign of the site? etc.

I have a BA honours in Graphic design When the hell were you allowed to use dreamweaver at uni, we have to use flash. Edit, although technically my course is called graphic communication.
