An excellent player who will indeed be an excellent signing but does anybody else think he has been a little anonymous so far this season?
Thats not a dig at the bloke who should be in the starting 11 and will offer us plenty when going forward
Is it just me?.....i,m open to be shot down if nobody agrees

Bit worried he may be of those who doesn't deliver much end product.
Final ball and shots tend to be a bit weak.
Seems keen, bit of pace and good attitude but a touch of headless chicken about him.
That said when Ethers came on his general crappiness made Kights seem like George Best!

Looks like the best winger we've got by miles

Looks like the best winger we've got by miles Disagree I still think Pennant on his day is the best winger at the club. Followed by Kites and then Etherington who is a shadow of the player we used to see. Shotton I dont even class as a winger

Maybe just getting used to how we are going to play. Not an out and out winger in our team, having to tuck in or track back. I thought we didn't use the wings much yesterday which is a shame.
Pejic said in the sentinel that the wings and their fullbacks were the key to us winning. Can't fault the effort and quality yesterday though. Very promising

First couple of games he was popping up just outside the 18yrd box and having a go, this does seem to have stopped recently. Possibly too early to say but I get the feeling he would be suited playing a more forward role in a 4 3 3.

Ethers looks way off form & fitness at the moment but all things being equal I'd be disappointed if he kept ethers out of the team.

He hasn't been far off our best player over the four league games as he? I think we may have seen some end product if Adam had played him in when he was wide open instead of going for a rather hopeful gay flick over the keeper first half yesterday.

That was poor decision making from Adam momo. Has he really been not far off our best player though mate?

Still think he's lacking the end product. Maybe a case of trying too hard. Hope so because I like his style, very up and at 'em.

People say forwards have the hardest job in football scoring goals.
I disagree. Wingers for me have the hardest job. Unless you are ronaldo it is so difficult to out pace and out do quick defenders. Even bale tried to change his game last season by tucking in more central more as he was getting snuffed out, so why do we expect our wingers to be like ronaldo every week. Ethers has never had a trick, but his delivery is up there with the best. He's been out for a while so give him time to get back.
Some weeks wingers will be good, others they will anonymous. That's wingers for you

Wezza, I know what you're saying.
I really like Kites as a player and think he's been ok but we don't often (as yet) give him the ball in the attacking third and it's been rarer still to have anyone playing around him.
In the formation we played yesterday (and against lesser sides than Citeh) I'd like to see him and whoever the other wide player is (either Pennant or Matty) playing further up the pitch and linking with Crouch.
I'm not so worried about yesterday as defensively I thought he (and Jon) both did sterling jobs but against other teams I'd want much more around the opposition's box.
If we get the ball to him there he is a goal threat and I suspect had Kompany not blocked that second half shot where Kites really opened his shape up to try and bend it far post, Hart may well have been struggling.

He had a very good game at Reading. Agreed had been slightly anonymous since, however we have played Arsenal and Man City in those games who had a lot more possession

Can' think of anyone who's been that consistent save perhaps Shawcross and maybe Bego.

Yes wingers, ethers, can have a big dip in form. Confidence, that's all. When he came on yesterday everyone wanted him to take on a quicker full back. I hope he had a great moment or game soon to get that confidence back.
Better wingers than him have and still struggle. Nani is fantastic but has been shit for over a year now. Bale has struggled for a long while now. Tough tough position

I'm starting to think the answer may be no.

True. Wingers need to be quick. Every other player on the pitch has different things to do. Keepers save shots, defenders head and kick balls away, midfielders get it and give it, forwards have to shoot on goal, wingers have to beat with either skill or pace fast quality full backs, often in our case two of the buggers, then have to put a quality cross in.
Let's hope all our wingers now push each other.

Yesterday he reminded me of Walters, he didn't have a good game yesterday but it was against Man City to be fair. Walters DID have a good game yesterday. I thought he showed glimpses of the old JW from the season before last. Against the better teams, when we need solidity, he might just be (in the new system) the hardworking, non-luxury type wide-man that fits the bill ?? Hassled, ran his bollocks off all game, gave Glichy no respite. EDIT: just reread what you posted and you probably didn't mean that Walters didn't have a good game ;D

Werrington. I fear you may be right on pennant. I just hope tone is cute enough to pull pennant aside on Monday morning and tell him for that particular game he needed other cover on the bench and that he wants him to push on in training to get ready for probably the Swansea game now.
Doubt it though, I think we'll eventually see Owen in the team with crouch with Walters shoved on the right and pennant maybe on the bench.

I'm still unsure on him, defensively he did well yesterday, some good tracking etc, but when the balls at his feet he's got start picking his head up and having a look. Far too many times he runs into trouble, to be fair to the lad his shot 2nd half was heading into the corner though

You could tell the difference down the left once he'd been swapped for etherington, everything seemed to slow down......
When Kightly has the ball he looks like he wants to take his man on, when Ether's has it, it's like he's lost either a yard of pace or lacks the confidence to take his man on!!!
