Wilson was superb today, marked Nasri out of the game, and his general play was excellant. Matty on the other hand is worryingly short of confidence, and completely ineffective.

Happy with him at LB. I thought Matty looked OK, he looked bright when he first came on and very determined but just couldn't do what he wanted to do. He needs a goal or something to kick him up the arse.

It's unfair to judge him on the time he had on the pitch today but Ethers didnt impress. Seems shot to pieces, his drive, confidence, directness and determination to beat a man have all been missing for some time. Kightly is deservely getting picked ahead of him. Im wondering what we can realistically expect from Etherington in a stoke shirt now.

I agree on both counts. The only thing Wilson might have done wrong (and I'll need to see the replay) was to get tangled up with Adam in defending the free kick from which they scored? Apart from that he was excellent.
Ethers put in his worst perfomance for a long time and he hasn't been good for a long time either. Pennant must surely soon be ahead of him in the pecking order.

I thought Matty was good when he came on. Gave us bit of life and worked 'Ard. Wilson screwed over Maicon on couple occasions with his turns which put the fear of god into me and did handle Samir very well.

I don't think he did do much going forward but Matty's backtracking was excellent. He got Wilson out of jail in the last twenty minutes when he picked up a clean through Maicon(?) on the right side of the penalty area - Marc was stranded up the pitch.

had a scapegoat rather than a favourite played as bad as matty did he would have had countless threads ripping him apart. He was shite...

Unfair on Ethers, give him time to work himself into fitness before judging him.

Ask the capped one... Coming off a recent hamstring problem, considering the type of player he is, isn't easy.

Wilson was again outstanding today, especially when you consider the quality of the opposition.

Matty was utter dogshite, no pace crap passing and looked clueless. It would have been far better to have Pennant coming on and switching with Walters IF Kightly needed to be subbed. Wilson played well didn’t get too far up the pitch so wasn’t as exposed. Gouranga.

Wilson was awesome yesterday, even though i'd prefer a left back, i'm completely fine with him there. He's got 2 great feet and I love that trick he does!

thought it was Wilson's best game for us. As has been said before, he does very well most weeks, being as it is not his natural/favoured position. The Wigan goal aside, when he should have just cleared out their striker and the ball, he rarely makes mistakes. He's the best LB we have, not that it's any kind of recommendation ;D. and I think he's the best we've had for quite a while, I include Higginbotham in that.
