Incredible shift from the lad. Totally in awe of him today. Feel a bit ashamed to admit that i don't remember him pulling up trees at Blackburn Just goes to show how much i pay attention to other teams ;D Gotta hand it to Tone this window....masterstroke.

The "Midfield Destroyer" we have been looking for! Yaya couldn't get to grips with him at all! Different Class

N'Zoni was absolutely top class today and should be the player we build our side around. Excellent engine, good range of passing, reads the game well and so strong.
Brilliant debut and can't wait to see him at home to Swansea!

Pure class today. One of the best debuts I've ever seen. Not just a superb performance but a peerless showing against the reigning champions. He had everything we've been missing. Cool in possession, mobile, strong in the challenge and positive when near the opposition's box. More of the same please! A latter day Alan Hudson for the difference he made to our midfield, and all round team play. He really had us purring.Well done, Nzonzi... welcome to the Brit.

I am genuinely excited about N'zonzi after what I have seen from him today. He looks a real prospect. I hope he maintains that intensity for the rest of the season. Quality - and looks value for money too.

Even the sponsors recognised him as MoM. Absolutely superb, the new Abdoulye Faye.

Whelan was just as good. It's just that we know that kind of performance is normally a one-off from him I thought Whelan did well today and looked better for having better players around him (Wezza will feel vindicated!) That said I just thought those two I mentioned were on a different planet. Thanks Jamo I have been saying this for a long time now mate.......I personally thought Nzonzi and Whelan were fucking awesome Long may it continue

He reminded me of Salif Diao.
That might be a strange thing to say because Diao became a bit of a joke figure in his latter years, but when we first signed him he was the perfect defensive midfielder for a club like us- physically imposing, great in the tackle and tidy on the ball.
N'Zonzi will prove to be a great signing.
(Did he cost us 3 or 4 million?)

Diao example is not far off, but I thought Nzonzi brought a bit more to the table with his energy, which saw him running towards the corner flag to keep possession at one point

What a match N'Zonzi had! Was truly pivotal for us today, virtually every time Man City seemed to be creating something he was there in the right space, at the right time to break up their play. Strong on and off the ball with an eye for a pass too! I think, certainly based on todays performance he could prove to be a more influential signing than Adam! (I'll probably be eating my words come January!) But he thoroughly deserved MoM today ... sayin that The whole midfield looked solid today, too deep with a seeming inability to press and close down at times, but as a whole a strong performance and I think a 4-5-1 (more of a 4-2-3-1) definitely seems the way forward!

Have Stoke ever had a player like that before? Chris Kamara? John Eustace ? Eustace in his prime was great but I thought the thing that gave him that extra edge was his goal threat from the edge of the box. Nzonzi won't score many but will give us the edge in many a midfield battle with his energy, presence and reading of the game.

Calm and assured debut. One of the biggest positives was seeing Whelan flourish with him and Adam.

I've seen a lot of debut games for Stoke players over the years and I'm struggling to think of a better one since we moved to the Brit.
Uses his long legs to win balls he is not favourite to win and some great headers for a midfielder. Didn't someone come on here from Blackburn and say he was no good with his head - he must have improved 200% over the summer if that is the case.
Of all the signings this summer he looks to be most at home and should fit us like a glove. Very excited at the thought of him improving as he settles in!

I was saying all through the transfer window to any one who would listen, and on a previous thread on here that he was the one player out of all our targets that I wanted, he is made for us.
