Anybody getting one? I'm tied into my 4S contract for another year, by which time I assume the 5S will be one it's way.

Just got a Galaxy S3 a few days ago. Not really looked at it yet as I'm not a big phone fan or techno nerd.
Will be making comparisons though between it and my Mrs iPhone (and my iPad), so that next time round I can make an informed judgement on what's better - Apple or Android.

Anybody got any links to download iOS6? Think I'll keep my 4S, only real thing I'll be missing out on is 4G Internet, bit annoying as I'm already on Orange (EE) but oh well.
12 months until the 5s comes out I'd imagine

As for the iPhone it's a great bit of kit, people slag off apple but my iPhone does every thing I need it to do Won't bother with iPhone 5 till the end of my contract. I'm happy to be one phone behind. I would imagine that this would be the last major change in size, anything bigger it won't fit in pocket

it takes a stupidly small sim card (nano sim) so anything we have now wont work... wonder when the companies will be selling/sending them?

Another user here who clearly hasn't bothered to look anything up. utter bollocks. Insightful and compelling. I'll come back with a more adequate response once I manage to fully assess (and indeed understand) the complexity of the response.

A friend of mine who works for Apple has been on a "getting to know the product" course for the last few days. His verdict:
"The screen's half an inch bigger, it's a bit lighter, it has 4G (which won't work for most networks until next summer!), it can take panoramic photos and it has a new apple 3D map app. You need to get a new SIM card to make it work and you'll have spend 30 quid on an adaptor to connect it to any old Apple hardware."
Safe to say, it's hardly inspiring me to shell out a minimum of £550. The problem is that people will seemingly buy anything if it's got the Apple logo on it.

If you're not on Orange (EE now) then you apparently won't be able to use 4G, the iPhone 5 is only compatable with the EE 4G network, the 4G networks that the rest of the companies can bid on aren't supported by the iPhone5!
Looks like I'll be sticking to my 4S!

To get this new SIM card, you can exchange your old one free of charge. However, this could take several weeks take it into a store for your network provider, they'll switch the number across and give you a new SIM there and then, usually it's back active on the network in 4-12 hours

The main hook for me would have been the 4G, seeing as though I use it for work every day etc. O2 say you can buy the 5 now, then in say 6 months time you can pay up the further 18 months of your contract (with 10% discount) and upgrade to an iPhone 5 that will support their 4G network (if Apple even bother to release on which does). Doesn't seem like a very good deal to me, but I'm sure the Apple addicts will still shell out the cash!

the 4G network frequency o2 and Vodafone are developing is going to be better in the long term, apparently (compared to EE) but it makes me more likely to hold out for the 5S next year (if that eventually supports the frequency o2 / Vodafone are developing). Just updating an iPhone 4 or a 4S to iOS6 will give me enough new things to play with until then.
