Of course you can, if the same tactic as last season is being used for this season. I think TP is going to try something alot of us thought he didn't have in him, and thats a different, more attacking gameplan, he now has the players at his disposal to try and the very best of luck to him. We all want whats best for Stoke City.

I hold my hand up and admit I have been overly critic of Pulis and his methods of late, however, I have to admit I am pretty pleased with the business the club did during the window.
It would seem there is inklings that Pulis is willing to change things finally so I cant be overly negative about it.
Owen regardless of age and whatever is a great signing for the club, going back a few years when we were playing the likes of Wrexham and Walsall I could never dream we would have some of the players at the club that we possess now.
Crouch, Owen, Huth, Shawcross, Pennant, Adam, Begovic to name just a few of the signings we have made in them years really shows just how PC and TP have evolved my beloved Stoke and long may it continue.

I don't think anyone on here has ever knocked what tp and pt have done for the club. The main moaning point is the style and quality of football. Everyone knows that TP and PT have done a massive amount for the club, that fact has never been questioned.

have you watched any games lately, our form is relegation 2 draws could technically be construed as relegation form, you are factually correct. There are plenty of reasons to be optimistic though as the OP said, and we can start to judge when we get through some of the bread and butter games after the hard start.

I love it when posters decide to give us all on here a 'Reality Check' with their own opinion. I certainly don't think the fans have become complacent, in fact the complete opposite. So the critcism baffles you , but then you go on to say we all pay our money and have the right to criticise?

RAF, the OP is a little confusing but the message is along the correct lines. People are being over critical of the club. Yes the tatics are dire at times and the reluctance to play the "best" team seems to never happen, but no matter how much we moan about the ongoings TP has continually improved the club with the backing of the Coates family.
I for 1 am totally baffled as to why we sign Owen, either we play him which means a big change in formation or we have him as an impact sub (something I dont think he is). But even after the Owen debate we need to look back at the Wigan game. TP set up same old tripe as normal, we went one behind which forced a tactical change, we got back into it, the repeated for the second half and came away from a bogie game with a point and people not knowing what the hell happened. Yet during the game the chanting of "you don't know what your doing, and the mention of scuffles/abuse between fans" has to be the biggest negative going at a time when the club appear to be again moving forward in a postive manner.
Do we take it as a positive that a different formation was attempted? Are we going to see bigger changes to the system to get the best from all the new signings? No one knows yet but we do need to get behind them for the sake of the club.

Sorry your 'reality check' hasn't worked for me. Must try harder I think. I really dont understand the 'batting above our level' bollox. What do you think the level should be for a club that has made more investment in new players than most in the prem, couple that with a manager and players who now have pretty significant experience of playing in the top flight. Go on have a shot at defining 'our level'. It might help my reality check

Well said Bluto, I am sure you express the genuine thoughts of the vast majority of Stoke City Supporters. Unfortunately you are wasting your time expressing these views in this forum as the site is overun by a small percentage of supporters who will never be satisfied unless we are winning every week and scoring 5 goals per game. I'm convinced it's a "generation thing" in that this generation has grown up expecting everything on a plate and wanting it the best! There is no appreciation of the gradual progress being made just a demand for I know what I want and I want it now! Of course we all want to see attacking football and exciting games but some of us understand that it can't happen overnight and are prepared to watch the team evolve whilst staying safe in the Premier League. I fully understand some of the criticism and even the unreasonable expectations of some what disturbs me enormously however is the vitrilic tone and naked aggression when things aren't 100% to their liking. Some of the views expressed and language used just defy logic, we have done exceptionally well in a short time and it will get better, we just need to show a little patience and understanding. We play in arguably the best league in the world and have done for 5 seasons, it really can't get much better anyway, can it? It's a bit like being married to Cheryl Cole but wanting Angelina Jolie.....most people would settle for what the'd got even if it isn't perfect !

What baffles me is the minority of supporters who continue to criticise the club... Its time the fans supported the Manager... rightly or wrongly have become complacent and are not united in being behind the club... we all pay are hard earned money and have a right to praise or criticise Do we REALLY have to go through this again?? For the avoidance of doubt, and going through in order of the above: 1. Saying you are baffled by those who criticise is in direct contradiction with the last of the four exerpts where you state folk have the right to praise or criticse! This is what most of the disgruntled supporters are doing. 2. We all support Stoke City. No one person is bigger than the club, and that includes TP. If people wish to criticise him Shotton, Delap or anybody else, it doesnt mean we dont support Stoke City. Supporting Stoke City and 'supporting the manager' are two completely different things. Did you 'support' TP when he was at Gillingham? Did you 'support' Lou Macari when he was at Celtic? No - we support Stoke City. Again, reference made to comment above that people are criticising certain aspects, have every right to do so, and does not hinder them in any way in supporting Stoke City 3. I dont believe we are complacent, and I dont believe that those exercising their right to criticise are not behind the club 4. Nail and head. Therefore let those who are expressing their concerns and exercising their right to criticise do so, and join in with reasonable debate.

Nobody knows what the vast majority of stoke fans think - please dont make out that your opinion is that majority 2. Then let those who criticise in a structured and reasonable manner do so, in the same way as those who dont can do so 3. Such tone, agreession, language and logic defying views are equally found on the other end of the scale too

We can all over analyse every word of the OP but the sentiment is there. The main point being there has been a change in expectations from the fans. This shows itself in the atmosphere and unlike the 1st season where almost every touch was cheered and we loved the underdog/gritty determination and effort approach we almost appear to want something better as though we have arrived.
A team of battlers (Pulis way) will not deliver the best football but should keep us there long enough to evolve with a mixture of those flare players.
I may not have liked the way we played last year as I thought we were bringing in better footballers but we reverted to type when results weren't as good.
I'm hoping that we evolve this year but if we don't I'm not on the bandwagon of calling for the head of the one who got us there if he keeps us there with the hope we can survive and become better.
On to entertainment. There's a choice and so many have made it. How many fans did we have when we played good football in the lower leagues? I know where I'm happier to be and wouldn't want to go back to that.
We can all point a finger at Swansea and say that's the way but for every Swansea there are 2 or 3 West Brom's, Blackpools, West Hams et al.
Have opinions and debate but unite & support not get personal & abusive or the implosion may come sooner than you think and a repeat of Birmingham would be unthinkable with more sheep!

Again well said Britvic.....but now put your tin hat on and wait for the abuse from the usual suspects who are happy to encourage "opinion" as long as it matches theirs ! The point I keep making is that I don't understand how "supporters" can be so abusive and aggressive about their own club, players & particularly management. Opinion is one thing vitriol is another.
