When you went your first away game?
This is another thread off the Mrs Shawcross outburst, and a lot of people are saying how you shouldnt be afraid to take children, but others are saying children shouldnt be going away games as of the agressive and violent vocals of the supports. This just made me think how old you lot were when you went your first away game.
Mine was at a young age of 9.

I actually went to an away game before I went to a home game. Stoke were playing at Newcastle in the 50s (when I was 5 or 6) and we were holidaying at my mum's parents who lived in South Shields. My dad took me along to see the game. We lost!

9 or 10, it was '82 or '83 time. My sister went to watch ET with ma nan, I went with ma grandad to watch Stoke lose 1-0 away to Forest. Equally memorable for being sick down the side of his spanking Ford Escort Ghia on the way home... & if memory serves me correctly, Deller knocking over Bristow in the World Darts final.

11 we beat Preston 4-3 after being 3-1 down with 15 minutes to go, what a day I swear we lost that game 4-3, after coming back from 3-1 down with 15 mins to go? Under Gudjon/Cotterill it was, if it wasn't ignore me - but that was my first away trip - heartbreaking

I was 33 when I saw Stoke vs. Bournemouth in April 2000. I've supported Stoke since 74/75 but never got to visit S-o-T until then (I'm Norwegian, btw...). I made amends to this as my son was five years old when he went to his first match at The Brit.

I started taking my daughter when she was about 3. She's 23 now and still comes to every home game and quite a few away. We've never experienced any trouble like Mrs Shawcross yesterday, but of course there are times when you get the odd group of dickheads, I think every club has it's share.
