this has the potential to be an amazing signing. a midfield player that can hold a ball, pass and who is good at set pieces. this should make it so much easier to feed ethers and pennant and could then free up crouch more upfront to give him more scoring opportunities and lay on more dangerous balls for walters to sneak onto.

I agreed whole-heartedly until I got to the bit about Walters, then I just spat my afternoon coffee out

Probably one of our best prem signings
Great interview with the man on SSN
Can't wait to get the stoke shirt on.
When asked about further signings said "you know what stoke are like for late signings"

And more quality added to the WAGS line-up: Great signing, think he will fit in well. Would'nt mind hanging out the back of his lady either

What we've been after for a long time. Someone in the middle who can actually keep their foot on the ball.

Now that is official I will post! Over the moon about this one, have always rated him and if employed right we are going places. I may now be over the loss of Tuncay! Finally we have some creativity in midfield. Awesome signing, build the team around the lad!

Cracking signing this and one that has gone under the radar of other clubs once again, he moved to Liverpool too quickly in my opinion after a couple of good seasons with Blackpool and he will be perfectly suited to us to prove what he can do once again, benefiting both parties! Welcome aboard Charlie!

I know hindsight is a wonderful thing and I am expecting nothing but different opinions to mine now he has signed but I would love to know what everyone's opinions were on Adam prior to his signing.
My personal opinion is that he is a average player who relies on his fellow midfielders to do the work for him. I don't think that he will fit in at stoke unless pulis adapts his style of play to fit him in. Ie, details two other midfielders to do his donkey work.
I hope I am wrong and he is a quality signing but at the minute I just can't see it.

If you were talking in Fifa 12 terms then he would be the equivalent of a In Form Whelan. Same breed of player but an upgrade in every category. Whether this is what we want/need then we'll have to wait and see but it's not a bad signing.

You have to say an improvement, which for £4 million a pinch. Very shrewd. Cameron/Adams central midfield gives that steel and service we have been missing. Just need Nzonzi and offload a few more like Ethers (his legs gone) Jones (lazy ......) Jerome (Brum reject never in control of the ball) Whelan (ran his course) then there's Tonge, Sidibe Arismendi but who will have them?

All I will say is you don't get nominated for PFA player of the year for being average and also to score twelve goals from midfield in a team that was relegated is not average!!

Dirty, slow and over-rated one season wonder.
God I hope I was wrong. I shall be giving him the full support and encouragement I give to every player in a Stoke shirt at Wigan tomorrow.
Come on Charlie lad!

Elated! Adam will be the glue we needed with good cover from edu Cameron and whitehead. Best signing since crouch! and for 4 mil!

This is a good signing, provided he makes his debut for us before Christmas.

Charlie Adam at £4m is a great signing. We will have to adapt our style though (thankfully) to accomodate him.
He will be good for at least 5 goals this season and will get the ball out to Pennant/Kightly/Etherington alot more so than our other midfielders.
Now for a striker and a left back.

Was brilliant at Blackpool and played very well for Liverpool at first, but his form dropped in his last few months at Anfield. Could be worrying for our Stoke, lets hope he regains his form from 12 months ago.

I think he could be a bit of a Van Der Vart type player for us. Walters will obviously be right wing! He looks thinner than last year too.

"Charlie Adam, is one of the best deadline day signings across the league, if you ask me. He could be the recruit that keeps them out of a relegation brawl and the sign that Tony Pulis is finally attempting to add the new dimension he promised over a year ago: at last Stoke will have a little creativity in the centre of midfield, on top of their other merits. And Adam can deliver a mean set-piece too and will have much bigger targets to aim at than he did at Blackpool."
from the guardian deadline day blog. Sums up all that can potentially go right with this transfer

A much better idea than Palacios. I disagree, palacios is/was a Taylor made midfielder for stoke city, it just didn't work out. I'm really really happy with Adam.

A definite improvement on what we have, and at £4million a damn good piece of business considering we paid £5million for Whitehead.
Plus he can take a beautiful free kick, which should see the end of Huth or whoever just running up and twatting it as hard as they can.
