It does start to look as though Stoke knew they could push this through if they wanted to but simply chose not to.
I guess we didn't like what we saw when he came over and trained with us.
Nothing else makes any sense to me.

i thought Stoke signing an actual left back with a left foot was too good to be true.

What an hilarious turn of events if he signs WBA.
I agree with that Smudge.
I wonder if they'll still try to sweep it under the carpet? ;D

Well it was an absolute load of bollocks that TP had been keeping an eye on him since our games in the Europa league for a start, despite what TP said when he initially signed. We took him fairly blind and when he arrived TP changed his mind because he believed that a better target had become available/was close to being agreed. If we don't sign a left sided defender tonight, it is safe to assume that TP's transfer brinksmanship is a bollock dropped in this particular instance.

God knows. I was assuming Olsson at the time but who knows.
In all honesty, I think most of the ITK stuff posted on here is an absolute crock of shit. Some have an inkling but others post anyting, covering almost all bases, when in actual fact, they know very little.
The truth is, based on what little I know, that it is almost impossible to be ITK when it comes to Stokes transfer dealings, because from one day to the next TP changes his mind.
He allegedly hates committing to early in case something better comes along at a later day, hence we dilly dally so often. Most of the dallying and delays are because TP simply can't make up his mind.
Look at Huddlestone for example. TP has liked Adam for the best part of 3 years. We would have signed him had Blackpool not been promoted and we wanted him when he almost signed for Spurs and ended up at Liverpool. Clearly we couldn't compete with such clubs.
Now we have signed him. It wouldn't surprise me one little bit if the Huddlestone fiasco had something to do with the fact that all of a sudden Adam became available. Certainly Adam's car was seen by someone I know who works at Stoke last Thursday and my usual source didn't turn up as he normally does on Thursday evening.
At the end of the day, who knows with Stoke. I knew we were very close to the signature of 3 players before we left for Switzerland but due to personal issues, TP hadn't met with the players. Who they were, I have no idea.
For certain, we changed our minds on Popov, be that because he was shit in training or because another target was believed to be close. More likely, a combination of these two things!

Nothing else makes any sense to me. Certainly looks that way. As an orthodox full back, surely he can't be worse than Wilson in the role can he?

My question would be why the hell did we announce that we had signed him to a big fanfare on twitter when we quite clearly had not. If he does join West Brom tonight then someone at Stoke has a hell of a lot to answer for.
