When I was a kid we had a floppy record title unknown and band unknown but does anyone remember it. From my aging memory some of the lyrics were as follows:
You've heard of Ferench Puskas and Pele from Brazil but Stanley Matthews from the Potts is the greatest of them all
and in deed my lads its true my lads I've never been known to lie and if you've been down Boother Road you've seen the same as I
New verse....
Stan Matthews scored against Luton Town the goal that won promotion they say you could hear the noise of the crowd as far away as Buxton
and indeed my lads......
Can't remember anymore other than the tune. Anyone got a copy?

I can remember a floppy record that The Sentinel gave away when we won promotion back to Division 1 ( Premiership in todays terms). The only thing that sticks in my memory is a spoken poem that included the lines:- Down Hartshill Bank and into Stoke, you don't see much sun, there's too much smoke, trains and drains and the occasional tree, chimneys, rooftops as far as you can see, and potbanks, and potbanks and round the corner guess what, more potbanks...

I've got a copy - listened to it once - sounds old for the 60's though - almost like a gramaphone record.

That's a lie about Hartshill Bank. I've seen the sun beating down. Once.
