Sounds very promising
Obviously won't be anywhere near the first team on Saturday due to this trip. Real shame as could have played alongside Ryan

Looks like Cameron had a great game - here is the minute by minute live text... I like this comment on 24mins - never seen the phrase used before in football.. '' Another US move breaks down in the final third and Mexico break quickly. Hernandez tries to do a little fancy footwork tormenting of Cameron, but the Stoke man stands firm, in the idiom of Stoke men..'' www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/aug/16/mexico-usa-liveDid anyone else read that in the voice of that commentator for the Columbus Crew game? ;D

"Dude, Cameron is one hell of a CB. Done so well defensively & stopped some good chances by Mexico. Quality player!"
My American followers most of them along the lines of this.
Looks like we have a good player here!

I watched most of this game on TV and big Geoff was very good - a couple of lapses where Hernandez escaped him but Howard saved the US. Otherwise, he looked big and strong, with a good turn of pace and decent in the air. We have an excellent player on our hands gents!!

Excellent news - for those who watched - did he look technically composed enough on the ball to play in central midfield? Was he quick enough to possibly play right back??

Definitely composed enough to play midfield which is where he has been told he is playing at Stoke (holding midfield) I still want to know what the commentator meant when he said "he won't be playing for Stoke at the weekend due to Visa problems" I thought that was sorted? ???

My only niggle with this is that he is carving out a name for himself at CB. TP will already be working out a back four with Huthy pushed out to LB ( since Popov didn't pop in) and a Whelan/Whitehead combo in midfield .

US have a world cup qualifier in Columbus in a couple of weeks. Might be tempted to check it out of Cameron plays

He had a lot of defending to do last night but he was immense. Speaking to a Yank, he can't remember him playing CM and doesn't understand why we'd change his position seeing as he's been a consistent rock in defence.

Wait a minute, me ducks. Are you all saying that - on the heavy/dense of this game - Pulis can sign center backs!? I refuse to believe it. You're all on drugs. But hold on. Ah Ha! I see the cunning plan ... Given that our (comedy) attempt to sign an attack-minded proper left back has just ( amazingly ) fallen through*, we can stick this Cameron kiddie at left-back (for the next 3 years). ... Does he look quick? He is over 6ft, isn't he?? Smashing He thinks he's playing where? No, you're thinking of that Wilson-Kiddie, Nige. (It'll happen ... you just watch ) * The only VISA Mr Popov was ever getting, was one with the word holiday in its title.

I caught some of the second half and he looked solid. The back flicked headed clearance was magnificent (he managed to get in front of Chicharito) and just flick it over his head. It does seem like Pulis move to be looking at a seasoned centre back to be his next midfielder though!

The commentators last night were banging on about it being a makeshift defence and how Cameron usually plays in CM and that it's rare that he plays at CB

Most sites list him as a defender even the Dynamo site, though a quick look through his bio explains he plays both roles. Him & Wils are certainly going to be a physical pairing, neither are obvious for their creative attributes though.

When have we ever utilized "creative attributes" in CMs or CBs under Tone? Lots of tall, athletic, direct, physical American players out there who "work 'ard" and would do a job for us. Next target better be Brek Shea!!!!!

Watched the whole game "Cam" was mint' best player whole 90. Great signing in great form. Can't wait for a Cameron away kit shirt Brek Shea is very good player he just need's some playing time! Canada also has some great young players coming up aswell besides belgium I'd say US, Canada have the best youth players coming into their own atm who would be a steal for any EPL team at under 2 mil easy... Great players allover in North America to pickup who aren't getting gametime to the beckhams of the MLS and Mexican Leagues...

Imagine Cameron gettin CB US duty and CDM duty for stoke it'd keep his form I think.

D, Geoff Cameron, 8.5 - Cameron was tasked with being the anchor on a makeshift back line, and he absolutely rose to the occasion. The fact that he was able to do so after a whirlwind month in which he has not played much and was in transfer limbo before finally sealing his move to Stoke City made his 90-minute performance that much more impressive. He was incredibly sharp and answered the bell in shutting down Chicharito until Aldo de Nigris came on as a second striker and stretched the U.S. back line a bit in the final minutes. He used his height advantage over Chicharito to dominate the aerial battle between the two and was an enforcer on crosses into the area. Not a bad way to enter his first foray into the Premier League. Read more: sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012/writers/avi_creditor/08/15/usa-mexico-player-ratings/index.html#ixzz23pLQUjg8
