Euphoria, misery, away days, wright pies, early morning bus times, piss stenched bogs, new grounds, old grounds, death burgers, night games, cup games, the shit, the arse, moaning managers, moaning fans, moaning women!!, mega mentals, mega hangovers. Bring it all on as I conna wait for it all to start. Go on Stoke..........

The Olympics has made me completely melancholic about the football season. We saw truly great athletes who love their sport competing at the very top and doing it for free (they aren't paid at the Olympics).
In contrast we are now going to have 9 months of overpaid, generally useless to55ers running around, sha99ing anything that moves and infesting the back pages with dead end transfer rumours.
There was such irony that on Super Saturday (Ennis, Farah, Rutherford) Team GB still managed to lose a penalty shoot out.
Wish we could have the Olympics all the time

I agree, it really made me not want to get back to football, watching honest hardworking proper people go out and represent their country without an ounce of reluctance and having to go back to these overpaid bell ends seems pretty tedious. That said though, after watching the Chelsea Citeh game yesterday and standing in my living room calling Andy Townsend a c*nt, it made me realise what's so great about football, complete hatred and animosity to anyone with a differing opinion to you. ;D
Bring it on! Through the face!

Thought I'd watch a bit of the Olympics. I ended up watching a hell of a lot and loved it.
The stories, passion, commitment, etc
I'd have quite happily taken 2 more weeks of the Olympics and the prem season being put back a couple of weeks.

I've really enjoyed watching the sports (especially handball) but I'm glad it's over.
There's only so many times you can tolerate hearing someone who jumps into a sandpit getting called a hero, and there's only so many times you can put with people who are "proud to be British", but only because we've won a lot of medals.
Fickle people us Brits.

It was great. What is very ungreat though is when people compare it to football. Same when England won the Rugby in 2003.

This and the fact that I am sick of the 'sporting experts' that have deveoloped on the back of the Olympics who come into work and give you all the details on, say, The Modern Pentathalon, when previously they couldnt give a shit. If nothing else I hope the Olympics inspire people to go out and actually do something, whatever that is, instead of sitting on their arses in front of the telly living their lives vicariously through others and their success's. Might also be a few less glory hunters in the world if that were the case to boot !

Win a medal, get a nice pay day from the tax payers. Not to mention sponsorships.

Hopefully a lot of people around the world have developed a new passion and want to take it up. That's what it's all about. The saddest thing about it is the entire bullshit bandwagon that comes along with it. You can guarantee that a vast number of people, who have spent the last 3 weeks banging on about how the Olympics has done this, that and the other, will lose all interest in athletics until the next time we do well in it.

Yep i agree it almost as bad as calling someone who is regularly late for training, generally disrespectful to the club and also generally has a bad attitude being called a Stoke legend.

I enjoyed every second of the Olympics. The atmosphere, the entertainment, the emotion, the sportsmanship.
Yes, there were issues in the Olympic Park with excessive queues and a lack of shelter from the rain, but I would advise every single poster to try to get to the Paralympics and savour for yourself just how special the whole thing is. The transport was fine and hotel prices became more reasonable as the games approached.
It didn't matter what sport you were watching, you became an expert and completely absorbed.
This is your once in a lifetime opportunity. Don't miss it - I promise you it is something you will be telling your grandchildren about in 50 years' time.

After over 1000 games of football as a spectator, the Olympic experience still left me in awe. It is unique. Don't waste a once in a lifetime opportunity to miss something your grandchildren will ask you about.

Whilst theres been some tremedous feats of sporting excellence over the past couple of weeks lets not get carried away by the notion that the olympic movement is driven on wholly altruistic intent. Its commercialism and sheer turnover power probably puts many banks to shame - and many of the atheletes will become multi-millionaires and secure staedy, highly paid worknfor life. Not sayin they dont deserve it and these are the relative few comparedto the many competitors but doin stuff "for the love of it" can easily turn into a very lucrative life long career. Same as the many ametuer footy players who play for nowtvweek in and out.
