Has anyone else noticed that massive overuse of this bloody word? Its drives me to distraction. Every time I watch TV its said numerous times. Its now made even worse with the coverage of the Olympics. The word should be banned in my opinion. Anyone else think the same or is it just me?

I'd say just you. It can be irritating when something that is no better than 'good' is described as 'amazing' but as for banning the word i'd say it was just you.

Some more over used words for me are 'brave' and 'hero'. Notice how everyone that gets killed in Iraq or Afghan is a hero, some one that wins gold at the olympics is a hero, some one who is one of the lads is a hero, none of these things compare but the same word is often described for all even without knowing any more about the said individual.

"Literally"....the way every teenager seems to use it when they actually mean nothing of the sort e.g. "Some girl dissed me so i like literally killed her" (translation = "A chav spilled my blue WKD so i slapped her and muttered some unintelligble mumblings")

It's called hyperbole and it's literally the most annoying thing in the world, EVER! But in all seriousness it is very annoying.

Spot on. The world has gone daft on hyperbole.

After about day 3 of the Olympics me and my Daughter high five every time someone say AMAZING, must be well into the hundreds You could also try it every time someone says 'Unbelievable' - for the last few days at least, the crowd has been unbelievable, the stadium is unbelievable, just being part of Team GB is unbelievable. These athletes must have pretty poor imaginations, as they don't seem to be able to believe anything! And don't get me started on Denise 'Literally' Lewis... Still loving the games mind, some of the athletics in particular has been, er, amazing unbelievable pretty good.

Legend - Used on this board to describre someone who has had a few decent seasons. So far i have heard it mentioned to Crouch, Fuller, Huth, Shawcross plus more no doubt. Also yoofs calling a mate a ledge for doing something stupid. That silly bint of Radio 1 always calls people a ledge.
Awesome - Americanised shit thats infesting this country.
Also agree with couples calling each other babe, it's so cringeworthy and i feel like vomiting.
Oh and not really fitting to this thread but people who spell can't as carnt. Seriously what level of education do you have to get such a basic word wrong? I see it on here and wonder how they manage turn a computer on.

let's throw "Emotional rollercoaster" and "It's been a journey" into the mix........10 days in the big brother house (any series) or a 30 minute appearance on The Cube with a bunch of no mark, brain dead, chavvy 'tards is NOT an emotional rollercoaster or a f##**$g journey!!!!!!!!!

Yep that's about right Also describing it as 'sad' when someone only wins a silver medal , ......would've thought 'disappointing' is more appropriate . Obviously these people have lived charmed lives up 'til now.
