Nor would I. But if he showed himself to consider himself above us then I would walk away. Just as I wouldn't want Darren Bent after his dumb comments about us prior to his Sunderland transfer. it happens though, they are young, have lots of money and think the world is their oyster; when they get older they only then have a true idea of their own ability etc. which tends to be determined by the clubs they have played for/have bid for them. to be honest i think it would daft to turn down a decent player simply on principle of "He thought he was better than us"...to be honest it's a bit kid's playground really and doesn't have any place in business (and let's not forget that's what football is nowadays!) people on here are desperately clamouring for the signing of Owen despite us being one of the very few clubs that he DIDN'T send his "Pimp my career" brochure out to! I agree it happens and as the average top level player becomes more self obsessed and less grounded in the real world it will happen more and more. But I would still prefer to move on from players who seem to class themselves as above us. Not that I'm saying Jenas does, another poster suggested that which is where I came in. Darren Bent, however, is one player I would never like to see in a Stoke shirt unless he offered a grovelling apology, on his knees in front of a packed Boothen.

He's one of those players who promised so much when he was at Nottingham Forest and just hasn't delivered his full potential since then. Saying that he's managed to play over 250 games in the premier league so he must have played well for most of those. Who would he replace, would he be that different to Whelan? Next season I expect our four main centre midfielders to be - Whelan 28, Whitehead 30, Palacios 27 and Delap at 36, the average age there is 30. Whilst Jenas could be a good signing, he is unlikely to make us self sufficient, I struggle to see how we could sell him on for decent money after. Whats worse is signing someone like him as a stop gap could stop the potential progress of players like Arismendi/Ness (although I expect Pulis will do that anyway) and means we have less money to spend in other areas because of higher wages. So whilst he could improve us slightly in performance I'd look for an alternative. When will we give up on Arismendi. Talk about flogging a dead horse, this horse has died been reincarnated as horse and been flogged to death again in fact flogged so hard he's turned into glue. Arismendi is not cut out for English football and that's being kind. Brighton; under compatriot Gus Poyet, he bombed and ended up out of the matchday squad. Barnsley; ended up out of the matchday squad. Huddersfield; ended up out of the matchday squads and even asked if he could go hone to Uruguay as there was no point in him being there. Yeah, Arismendi seems to be the wrong type of player for english football, full stop, and I'm pleased you pointed that out to pretty much everyone who didn't already know it. What I was really saying (and I can tell I explained it poorly) is that we should be looking to have a succession plan within the squad and at this moment in time we are just signing players as stop gap, where there is little resale value, unless Ness is the start of the change in tide.

Jenas is terrified of Pulis..... and has not got 5 premiership games left in his career imo. Harry has tried to get rid for years.Villa dont want him even on a free. If we are in for him I would be amazed and calling certain people liars. Hargreaves better player, less risk. Any Jenas type of player would be a massive improvement and would transform our midfield....just not Jenas himself. Bent did not insult us...it was just percieved that way by many. Work was then done to satisfy the lynch mob by him tweeting his admiration of KJ and his insistance that he was his preferred playing partner, prior to a move here.. One cnut agent fcuked what would have been our passage to a stable top ten status.

would be a good signing IMO but we couldn't have, Jenas, Palacios, delap, whelan, deano and ness in the squad but does ness even count as part of the 23 man squad?
