early 70s Viccy Hall. Slade with Thin Lizzy and before them was an unknown American named Suzi Quattro. I was another one that was at Pink Floyds Bingley Animals concert. I'm so glad I found this forum: When I was eleven I named my dog Suzi after SQ - and Brian Downey's son from Thin Lizzy is a good mate of mine, we grew up beside each other. I never saw Rainbow but I did see DIO in 1983. I was raised on hard rock - my babysitters were into Zep, Sabbath, Who, Floyd - all the good stuff basically - so since about the age of 4 I was addicted to that music. I'm 42 now and still love it. As Dio sang: "long live rock and roll."

Saw them about 10 times last time 3 years ago at the rose bowl southampton with the MAGIC NUMBERS I'm a massive who fan greatest band ever IMO Here's a funny ancedote: my wife is a lot older than me, and she had this boyfriend back in 1968 who dragged her (as she put it) along to the Who in London. She said she was never so bored in her life. I know she said that to PISS me off because I'd give anything to have seen them in their prime. Since she's met me 15 years ago she has got into hard rock in a big way to the extent that Metallica are her favourite band. The other day I grilled her on the Who after we watched the amazing journey documentary and I said I bet you deeply regret not paying attention to that Who concert now. She denied it, but the body language said another thing.

1966 in Manchester in my first year at uni. The Beach Boys topped the bill and Good Vibrations was in the charts. Lulu was also on the bill wearing a very short skirt and sitting on a high chair. She will have stayed in a posh hotel whilst I went back to a grotty hovel in Eccles.

Quo supported by savoy brown That's arse about face if you ask me Quo were pretty cool in those days though... this was just after Piledriver was released and before the days of the (mostly unfair) '3 chord wonders' jibes. Stan Webb's Savoy Brown were immense though I have to agree.

Quo were my first gig as well - Daily Mirror Rock awards 1976 @ Bingley Hall - then a glut in 77 also at Bingley Hall in quick succession - Sabbath, Floyd, Rainbow and Yes I think. Hawkwind supported by Motorhead were my Viccy Hall debut. Thin Lizzy at Trentham - those were the days - megabands on your doorstep month in and month out. Still got all me tix as well :-)

First time I went out with my husband he took me to see a prog, rock band called Man - almost dumped him there and then. Bloody awful excuse for a band.
He redeemed himself a few weeks later when we went to Trentham Gardens to see a guitar band led by Nils Lofgren who was supported by an unknown band called Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers who outclassed Lofgren with his trampoline antics.

Actually, come to think of it, that farewell tour is still going on.

A lot of 'cool' first time gigs... Is everyone being honest? My first was Adeva at Cambridge Corn Exchange. Made up on quality since however!
