Not sure does Mills deserve to be there.
During that unbelievable run we played some of the best football post-Waddo.
Also the money he spent wasn't a total disaster. Most of it went on Cranson and Biggins. If Cranson hadn't got crocked things could have been different!!

Biggins got injured early on too. I did say i was little harsh but the promise shown in 86/87 had long gone. He did sign Dave Bamber too!

Well in my time following Stoke (1993-Present) My top 5 are - 1. Chic Bates (totally out of his depth) 2. Joe Jordan (see No.1) 3. Chris Kamara (nice guy, shit manager) 4. Steve Cotterill (for obvious reasons - Quitter) 5. Brian Little (after a fantastic start - 12 pts clear at one point, to utter dismal capitulation at the end - 8th 13pts off play offs i think, and totally clueless)

As for best managers, well this is easy. Just from my time - 1. Tony Pulis 2. Lou Macari 3. Gudjon Thordarson 4. Gary Megson 5. Johan Boskamp

If you go by the Win percentages listed here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Stoke_City_F.C._managers then the worst 5 are: Walter Cox 0% Alan A'Court 0% Tony Lacey 0% Dave Kevan 0% Chris Kamara 7.14% However, as a few of them only managed a few games I'd suggest it was: 1) Chris Kamara 7.14% out of 14 2) Jock Rutherford 18.18% out of 11 3) Bill Asprey 21.88% out of 64 4) Steve Coterill 23.08% out of 13 5) Harry Lockett 23.64% out of 55 As a benchmark Pulis is at 35.88% (first stint) and 38.49 (second stint) and Macari is at 46.72 and 36.81% for his stints. Waddo was at 34.69%. Incredibly Little is at 44.23%, albeit mostly in that initial amazing run before trailing off. Boskamp is at 35.29. Ball is at 27.42%. Of course, all of this doesn't take into account what division we were in. Tom Mather deserves an honourable mention for getting us relegated to the third Division North in 1925-26, although he did give Stan his debut, so redeems himself somewhat.

Joe Jordan , tops mine !
The most mind numbing football I have ever witnessed , he made our binary season look like a fucking samba party !

1, Little 2, Jordan, 3, Ball, 4, Kamara, 5, Bates. Bill Asprey did a decent job under terrible conditions and at a time when nobody would touch the post. He put so much into the job, it nearly finished him off. Mick Mills showed promise but appeared to be out of his depth when things went wrong, great bloke though. Gentle George Eastham to nice to be a manager. I agree with an earlier post that Durban was under-rated at Stoke.

Jordan played a 5 man defence against Bath at home in the FA cup don,t think even Tone would do that, at least it was 0 0 though
