Does Capello recognise the irony in his recent comments, when in fact he did himself little favours with players, fans and the FA with his poor communication ability and grasp of the English language?

I didn't think his English was that bad. Just the odd bit lost in translation as the media love doing with Roberto Mancini these days. Which can make a simple misunderstanding of language into big news. I can see why he's pissed off with Rooney, because to be quite frank he was shite in an England shirt for Capello as he seems to be now for Woy.

His English was shocking. It was reasonable to expect better for £6m a year.

Think the translation thing is just an excuse, he got his point across be sure of that. Teams are full of players with different languages nowadays.

I read an interview the other day where the guy interviewing him said his English was very good. He didn't like doing press conferences because he was weary of the media exploiting any mistakes he made and quoting him out of context.
Rooney was shite in 2010 when we had a foreign manager and shite in 2012 with an English manager.

To be honest I was saying he was world class a few days ago and I thought 2010 was just an aberration. He will be getting a lot of abuse when he comes to the Brit this season.

Apart from the obvious Capello was a very successful England manager. His win rate of almost 67% is the highest since Alf. Noticable that before SA he was lauded and respected because he'd learnt the language so quick. When it went tits up it was because he didn't know the language.
BUT he should keep his gob shut about Rooney.

It's kind of funny that we have a thread discussing whether a footballer on 200k a week is shite or not?

Can you imagine the Italians having a manger who can't speak Italian? It beggars belief that the England national team had a manager who couldn't speak English.

Capello could speak English. Before the World Cup he was admired for how quick he learnt the language. After it the tabloids decided he couldn't speak English.

It's been true of a few players down the years , great club players ,that don't perform on the international stage

I don't agree with "not understanding English" comment when Rooney is scouse...no fucker outside of Liverpool can understand them never mind them understanding us! BUT Playing well for man utd and not england I do agree with! Ferguson was asked by a friend of mine that works for virgin trains; "why does he think Rooney didn't play well at the world cup in south Africa" and his exact words were "what do you expect with the southern twats around him" Ok.... What's the excuse for the euros you old Scottish twat! Rooney had 7 players from either the midlands or Manchester. For of the attacking players were from manchester and 3 from utd! Yeah he only had two games but what a pile of shit he was! Thankyou and good morning!

Capello was fine, but after he lost the plot at the World Cup he seemed to lose all real interest in the job.
