Been to stadium shop today to get a couple of tops, i was really impressed with the quality and design. Only one thing wrong the sizes are a joke, i'm a fairly big bloke and like a lot of room so bearing on mind the new away strip that is sized at 3xl is nearly 6 inches smaller across the chest. The 2xl is like a large, the girls in the shop were amazed to see the difference in the 2 shirts. Surely to god someone must have noticed these shirts are undersized But there again this is stoke city so its pretty understandable Loke my arse adidas There you go martin, another moan, time to delete me as usual

Are the shirts undersized or are you oversized I ask myself ;D

They were the same last year.
The replica kit is made bigger because more people buy it, the training wear is standard adidas sizes.

Thanks Tassie Potter. I was wondering why, after buying the away shirt, the white shirt and the blue training shirt (all XXL because of adidas ssmaller size.... in the late season sales, they all fitted to varying degrees. The away strip was perfect but the other two were bordering on too small. Very annoying having different actual sizes when the size tag says they should all be the same. Hard to fit when you can't try them on !!

Yep I got caught out by it, then my mother in law explained it as she used to make kits for them...

Why would more people buy the replica kit because it is "made bigger"? Surely you would just have a range of sizes to fit everyone. The only thing I can think is you mean people feel better about themselves if they can get in to an L when really they are a full blown pie man who should be in an XXL. Is that what you mean? I'm baffled.

No Adidas standard sizes are smaller than say le coq.
Sotheby's first year we got standard sizes and they were to small for a selection of fans, so we got bigger sizes for the replica kit last year and this year as they sell more of these.
Training kit does not sell as well, so adjustments are not made to have the larger size.

So replica kit would go up to say XXXL wheras training kit would only go up to say XL? I don't think that is what Jarvinski is complaining about at the top of the thread though if you read the message again.

No, they have the same sizes, up to xxxl.
However, because the replica kit sells more they make it bigger.

No, they have the same sizes, up to xxxl. However, because the replica kit sells more they make it bigger. ok I suspect the real reason is not because it "sells more" but because replica tops not generally bought to do sport in as a normal football shirt would be but instead to be worn over the top of several other layers on a freezing cold day to declare your allegiance to your team.

Yes because they sell more...
The first year besides the plain back sales were not as good because people could not fit in them, the following year sizes were bigger, not really hard to deduce why is it.

Can someone please hide this thread from Bunny? Let's just hope they have the correct shorts in stock when he goes in, otherwise he will explode with rage :-)

Yes because they sell more... The first year besides the plain back sales were not as good because people could not fit in them, the following year sizes were bigger, not really hard to deduce why is it. Things aren't helped by the way that the size ranges supplied to Stoke (and I suspect to other clubs) have "gaps". What I mean is, the past two seasons a Medium shirt (either training or replica) has been 38-40" chest, a Large has been 42-44 (XL in many suppliers' ranges) and not 40-42.* Take a look at the Adidas size range here: www.prosocceruk.co.uk/?i=471700&colour=redwhiteAnd compare with Puma here: www.prosocceruk.co.uk/?i=268337&colour=redwhiteor this Joma range here: www.prosocceruk.co.uk/?i=268739&colour=White/Red- both Puma and Joma have "Large" sizes located in the middle of where Adidas put their Medium and Larges. - What this means for me (roughly a 41" chest), in Adidas terms is I'm stuck between a Medium that fits, but won't in a few washes or a Large, which is about 2-3 inches too big 'cos in the past it's been a "XL". The real headache is for fans buying via mail order who may think they know their 'usual' size, but may get caught out. The club should really have a proper size guide on the website - including armpit to armpit width measurements and collar to bottom hem. Oh and template-haters may like to compare our new training range with this: www.prosocceruk.co.uk/team-football-kits/adidas-football-kits/adidas-training-wear * I caught sight of a crib-sheet on a till at the shop once and had this confirmed.

As a follow up, I checked on the size guide for the Training T shirt Stoke will be using: www.prosocceruk.co.uk/?i=471545&colour=UniversityRed/Black/White - It goes up in 2 inch, not 4 inch steps - but I will be amazed if the range in the club shop is this comprehensive. It'll be interesting to see what they mark as "S, M L etc". In fact, looking at the original post, I think this could be the root of the problem - Adidas supply a varying range of sizes for the training gear and it's down to each club which they take and how they mark them as Small, XXL etc.
