Don't think it was quite this tough though WD. 3 of last years top 4, plus the Champions League winners and Liverpool away in the first 8 games is a bit ropey. The point I'm making Sheikh is that it's pointless looking at it and trying to work out what we'll pick up and where. More often than not last season we picked up points in the games we thought we'd struggle in and dropped points in the games we thought we'd do well in. Its almost impossible to predict. We've got to play 'em all regardless, just get on with it.

I know each season is different.. however we only have the past form to go on, a replication of last year.. Undefeated at Home against the big'uns and we will be fine

Reading fans already claiming they'll easily get three points in their first fixture with enough goals to put them top of the table. Erm, yeah right. They've clearly never seen us park the bus before then! H

Will Tone bring Woodgate back into the middle and give The Berlin Wall another rest?

reading away... i think we'll get off to a good start. 2-0 stoke (crouchy and huth) and then battle for the points against the big teams.

We've got to play 'em all regardless, just get on with it. It would be interesting to see if there is any bias in playing the big sides early on. Although I suspect that any idea of them being undercooked is a bit of a myth.

It does look difficult on paper but I'd prefer play the bigger teams earlier on as they are not winning the title within the first 10 weeks

I like getting lots of the big teams early we are motivated to be professional and if we get adrift TP usually realises how far behind we are then gets us back on track.
It also means we don't have an end of season run in like Wigan did last year which i don't think would suit us. The idea of playing the big teams when they've brushed off the cobwebs and need points for titles and Europe is not a prospect i would like.
Title contenders early promoted teams late for me.

I can just imagine 10 games into the season with 0 points, Tone suddenly waking in the middle of the night thinking 'Blimey, we're bottom of the league and 10 points behind West Ham!!!! Better take a note and try something else in training tomorrow'.

Another theory will be tested ,as i have always said we did well against Liverpool, Chelsea and Manu early last season because contrary to the capped ones view Europe gave us a fitness and sharpness edge as we were already in the groove . He is right an we will do as well or better

Seems like a tough couple of opening months and it will be hugely important to win our early home matches
It looks like one hell of a tough league!

We don't have many of the usual fixtures there.
Man Utd at home usually falls around September time, this year it's in May. Arsenal at home is usually at the tail end of the season, this year it's at the start. We don't have our usual early season home game against Chelsea, winter home game against Man City or Tottenham game at the start of the season, either.

Looking at the Champions League and Europa League dates, it would appear that the Chelsea, Man Utd and Liverpool away games will all be moved back to the Sunday.
