Worldlink Group in dispute with Bet365 www.stockmarketwire.com/article/4338715/Worldlink-Group-in-dispute-with-Bet365.htmlI know a lot more about this than can be put on a public board (and nor will I at present), but can say I fell out big time with the Worldlink management team, they owe me money and refuse to pay. A lot of questions being asked by many who worked there and share traders about the background of Worldlink.

Online patents are not that clear cut. It is an opportunist industry of its own. For example, BT once took a patent out on the hyperlink and tried to get he world to pay them a licence years after everyone had been using them all over the place.
This bunch may have a patent, anyone can take one of those out, but in the online world it doesn't mean you developed or have proprietary ownership of the technology, it could equally be a bunch of corporate chancers. All software is a mishmash of bespoke, sandard and licenced code. Anyone looking for a few quid can find something in there, then target a company looking for an out of court pay-off because it would be cheaper than getting your lawyers out. It happens all the time - about once or twice a year at one software house I worked at. Sometimes it was cheaper to pay up, sometimes we toughed it out and in one case we turned on the plaintiff and destroyed them.
I wouldn't read too much into what amounts to a press release issued by a company that is looking for a payout.

Question: If worldlink have the patent to the technology do all the bookies have to use them for the live in-play service?
Like you say there's more to the story when you dig deep, but from an outsider does the patent not control things, just like a marriage certificate!!!???
Knowing how Sir Peter is, I'm sure bet365 have a case, do they?
*** i think malvern has answered my questions at the same time of asking***thanks

He's pretty shrewd is Mr Coates so i'd be both surprised and amazed if he's left his company open to a lawsuit.
