news.arseblog.com/2012/06/arsenal-to-earn-uefa-handout-thanks-to-nasri-fabregas/The only reference to this I can find is on an Arse site (so the veracity could be dubious). However if it's true that there are big payments to clubs for providing players for the tournament it smacks of a cash-cow for the big boys. Does this go someway to explain the dubious selection of so many 2nd rate Liverpool players?

Does this go someway to explain the dubious selection of so many 2nd rate Liverpool players? that is absolutely outrageous! it does explain exactly why 3 of the worst players in the premier league last season are in our squad (henderson, downing and carroll). I have always said, if teams don't want their players going on international duty then they should buy worse players. It is part of the game and the big clubs know when they buy a player that they may be called up. But clearly what is going on is that because certain teams buy players, they get called up. How else do you explain the inclusion of all the liverpool players (minus gerrard).

Wonder if woy has an agreement with Liverpool in some way. Wonder if woy is still owed money by Liverpool and his way of getting it back is picking half the shit that plays for them.
