Who lost out when Italy qualified, they will feel pissed off if they do pull out.

If FIFA don't throw them out and Italy quit, then I would imagine FIFA coming down hard on them and banning them from the next two tournaments at least.
As said though, it won't happen.

a football manager who cares about the future of the game rather than backhanders and bungs? not that weird really, actually qute commendable. think he's just acknowledging that if that's what needs to be done to get the problem sorted then it's the best thing in the long run

Who lost out when Italy qualified, they will feel pissed off if they do pull out. I imagine that would open the door for that team in a similar way that Denmark were let in (and eventually won it) in 1992, when Yugoslavia (as it was) went belly up.

why would players with all that money agree to match fix for just a bit of extra pocket money?
Buffon was mentioned earlier on the radio aswell which i found hard to believe because i've always seen him as a respectable kinda guy
i don't think its just money that forces them to get involved with that kinda thing.

This is Italy, a country where corruption and Mafia influence is endemic throughout society. It wouldn't surprise me if organised crime exerts certain pressures on the players to take part in this. Although I know a lot of footballers are greedy, with how rich footballers are these days I doubt so many would be prepared to risk their careers and potentially jail time without some kind of threat and intimidation being involved.

Who lost out when Italy qualified, they will feel pissed off if they do pull out. They were in N Ireland's group with Serbia and Estonia. Hardly new territory for Italy though. They won the 82 World Cup on the back of match fixing scandals. In fact Paolo Rossi was originally banned for the tournament but had his ban reduced....conveniently
