I'm hopeful of setting up a web site for my local sunday league team, However i have no experience in this and would welcome any advice.
I just want to set up a simply website that looks reasonaliby proffesional.
Also i'm looking in the possibilty of advertising on the site as a way of generating a bit of extra cash for the club.
Please could you give me as much advise as possible because i'm useless on computers ;D

Being useless on a computer is not a great way to start. However I have had an idea... You could set up a blog and use it as a website. You should be able to list fixtures and results and match report, you can upload pictures as well. Very much like using this message board. If you go to www.blogger.com/start you could end up with a website in about half an hours time.

It easy to use, and you'll get a few links quickly ... Advertising is more of an issue, but Wordpress costs you nowt, so you won't loose* out (Yes, other "blog sites" are available .. and so on) Have fun! ah

Go out and buy the Computer Active special this month (£4.99 I think) which is a complete magazine on setting up web sites. It includes a CD with 4 programs on to help and 100 pages showing how to use the programs. The programs they use are easy DTP type programs, no html coding and will set up a reasonable site in a couple of hours as long as you know what it is that you want on each page.

Agree with Andy, Wordpress is better than Blogger.

Try www.soccerweekend.comIt does exactly what you need. I built this site with a mate a few years ago and sold my share to him. He still carries on it to this day. Whats best is that you actually get paid to use it as the more visitors you get the more you get paid.

www.clubwebsite.co.uk is by far the best FREE club website on the net. You can have your own domain name if you wish (for a small fee) and they do loads of special offers too. We got 12 bottles of lucozade sport through it for nowt. Ours is an example www.clubwebsite.co.uk/afcclayton/

the main template is fairly standard but you change colours etc. You can put whatever ads you want on. The google ads are the website's but the others are affiliate links I have set up plus our own sponsors (Paintball evolution). It really is very good and easy to use

I run a team for Leek CSOB and we have a website with Sportstaion, but use the web address www.leekcsob.org.uk please have a look!! They allow for multiple teams and you can have editable/custom links for you to use e.g we have one link for fantasy football but you could have that as match reports. I would strongly recommend this website. It's is free and if you wish to have your own advertising this is allowed for a small fee (see website). Sportstation website www.sportstation.co.uk/main/index.php

I mean if its free, who actually gives you the money and how much do you get per hit etc? SGS
