My daughters phone HTC Wildfire S...
According to vodafone she's used up nearly all of her Data allowance and yet she hardly ever uses her phone...
Telephoned vodafone and they said that this is correct and that the phone is permanantly connected to the internet etc etc...
For some reason he then hung up on us...
How do i disconnect it from being permanently connected to the internet etc etc?.
Thanks in advance...

Not sure exactly how to do it on a HTC, as I've never had one, but its pretty generic on most phones. Go into something like Settings or Connectivity on the phone and there should be an option like Network and then select Cellular Data to off.

go on the market place, search for APN switch I think it's called that, It will turn off the network on the phone, connect the phone to Wi-fi while at home which should save her some allowance to. adding the widget power savings will help to, do this by pressing menu, add, then widgets should be on there.

I believe it's a download allowance tazi, she shouldn't be using her allowance just by being connected as far as I know. I've got a HTC Wildfire, had it over a year, I don't actually know how to shut the browser down tbh, don't use it a massive amount but it's 'always connected' as far as I know and I haven't gone over my allowance, which isn't massive, yet. Having said all that, I'm sure someone will come on soon who's an expert And I'll find out I owe my mobile company hundreds

Thanks mate, thanks everyone.
Done that and i just hope it works.
My other daughter has the same phone and her Mobile Network is ticked and yet she's hardly used any data allowance and is on her phone more.
According to the data she's used 469MB in 17 days and has 31 MB left.
She's been to college all day today and according to the account she's used 17MB in that time when in actual fact she hasn't even used it.

Hi Tazi, on my wildfire you go into "settings" followed by "Wireless & Networks" then untick Mobile Network......did it when I went abroad! that will do it but everytime you want to use the mobile internet she will have to turn it back on, then off again what you need to do is turn the roaming function off. Basically what the roaming does is constantantly conecting to the internet when ever the phone signal changes ( it's a fucking disgrace that there is no warning about this on your phone or from phone companies) when your moving around. as above go to wireless & networks scroll down to mobile network then untick the data roaming Her phone should now only connect to the internet (or using internet apps like proboards/espngoals etc) when she wants it too and not on its own any probs let me know rs

The best thing to do is to download the Vodafone My APP which allows you to keep up to date with your usage.
Also, you should be able to connect the phone to a WIFI device that you use to access the internet on your PC. This will allow you to use the home based internet service instead of the Vodafone Data. Finally, you can get an extra 500 mb of data for £5 which you can remove at any point.
Hope this helps.

Taxi, look for an app called Onavo Count in the market, it's free and very good for monitoring date usage. It will show you what apps on the phone is using what data. Have a read up on it and give it a go.

Turned on mobile network and roaming box remains unticked. Try a reset then carry out the roaming op as mentioned earlier.

My 2 lads and me are all on Tesco's mobile, I haven't been charged any extra (yet!).
