Good. I stuck a cheeky fiver on him at 33/1 when he 'rejected' their approach the first time around.

I'll give him till January, then 'King Kenny' will come back. He's like a rash that won't go away him.

That's Carroll fucked at Liverpool then, can't see him fitting in with Rodgers passing style.

I think he'll do better than Dalglish.
Time will tell though.

Isn't he going in purely as coach under a dominant Director of Football structure?
Not quite Jug Ears fucking off to be Howard Wilkinsons fluffer but peculiar choice for him if true.

That could be Swansea fucked up their little avian arseholes then. Holloway would be a good candidate to take over there. Get it wrong and they could be fucked. As could Norwich if Lambert goes to Villa.

They've got American owners, thats the way things are done over there isn't it?
One guy in charge of recruitment, another coaching and picking teams etc.

In Baseball, for example, there is a squad of 25 players on the first team. The General Manager decides who is in this 25 and who gets sent down to AAA (basically the reserve team).

Welcome to the world of Baseball franchise internal politics! Good luck to Rodgers hope he is astute at playing politics. I can't see the more experienced coaches in Europe being happy to work under that structure and clearly Martinez wasn't. Still the yanks always know best

Doesn't really fit in to the acountability we're used to in English Football though does it? I know it kind of happens at some clubs already but not the full on American model. The press will ahve a field day at sniffing out splits and rifts, particularly if its big character like van Gaal in the DofF role

In Baseball, for example, there is a squad of 25 players on the first team. The General Manager decides who is in this 25 and who gets sent down to AAA (basically the reserve team). I thought that was the case, I've done extensive research on the subject**. Its certainly a different way of doing things. I can see the merits in it. You could be the greatest coach in the world and able to motivate and get the best out of the players at your disposal but not be the best at spotting new talent or identifying the right players to move the team forward. The place it breaks down is there is surely going to always be "friction" between the 2. There always needs to be 1 clear person in charge for my money. It tends not to work out in the long run. ** I've watched Moneyball

Its pretty radical for English football and it does breed a 'sloping shoulders' and an absence of mea culpa. Indeed the press will have fun with the mix and I will have even more fun taking the piss out of my bindipper relatives when it all goes tits up

How are the Liverpool fans taking it?
I would have thought they would want someone a little more proven on the big stage.
Be pretty hard to totally screw it up though I would imagine with the playing staff and finance at their disposal.

Wonder what Martinez said or didnt say - that lost him the job. If its true that they are not after a "football manager" in the English sense of the wording, and they merely want a "coach" then maybe Martinez turned them down? I can't see it being an appealing job for a lot of managers. Most want to do things on their terms and be "top dog". Unless they're just a jug eared cunt that is.
