really enjoyed today's play off game. No theatrical diving, very little whinging at the ref, no rolling on the ground clutching an ankle/knee and no waving imaginary cards. It was like football should/used to be.

that's why I won't be as suicidal as some if we ever do return there.
Cheap prices, terraces, players you can relate to (although in fairness most of Stoke's are sound), pubs near proper grounds etc etc

Said the same earlier, was also good to see the ref wanting to let the gsme flow instead of the big time charlies in the prem, was good to see him allowing a drinks break too. You only have to see what w*****s we have in our league when howard webb booked that player tonight in soccer aid for kicking the ball away!!

Having started to do the 92 earlier this year, I've watched a fair bit of lower league nogger this last few months. Although being in the Prem's brilliant, it wouldn't really arse me if we went down in the near future. As long as our team is still operating and we have players/managers/ wins/draws/losses to praise/hate/love, then I'm a happy chappy. Don't care if it's against Man Utd at Old Trafford or fucking Southend at Roots Hall, I'm supporting the mighty Potters.

I want to Stoke to play at the very highest level that they possibly can but when all is said and done there are positives to be had if we were to fall from grace. The Premier League is over-hyped and run on greed by men with no interest whatsoever in the bigger picture. I doubt that I would miss it if we were to be relegated.

It seems that with every season we spend in the premier league, as supporters and as a club, we are becoming more and more like the greedy, arrogant spoilt brats i always despised about the premier league. I almost feel embarrassed when i meet a supporter of a lower league club.

Simply agree with everything that's been said.
I defy anyone to say that they didn't enjoy yesterday's game and how refreshing it was to see two teams both try to play to their max and actually try to win the game, rather than not to lose it as we saw on Saturday afternoon and Saturday night.

Lets be honest watching Premier League football, La Liga football just shows what a cheating, bribing and general awful game it's become over the last 20 years.
No level playing field and i'm not talking about players and finances, i'm talking about FA and the refs. Big clubs can rack up more debt than a small country but it's ok.
It's a playground for the rich and a money making racket for the FA. Oh and it takes me so much longer to get a pie than when we were in the Championship days.

Also don't get me wrong it's great being on the worlds stage but it's not everything and there is a lot a miss from lower leagues.

i think it shows how badly the premier league and 'top tier' football is run. We should all hope we stay at the top level for as long as possible, but I too agree that relegation leads to a much fairer game, from the players, to teams wealth, to refereeing.
The REALLY sad thing is that a few rule changes and some cultural changes at the top of the game (FIFA, FA, UEFA) could re-establish this fairness in the premier league.
Proper financial regulation which reduces wages, ticket prices and transfer spending. Ridding the game of agents and having a PFA in each country that represents players, which would reduce the greed in some players as they wouldn't have their owner (agent) encouraging the to leave every 5 minutes. Severe punishment (3 game ban 1st offence, 10 game ban 2nd offence, 3 points deducted +10 game ban 3rd offence) for divers and players that bring the game into disrepute (eg on field racism, fighting, criminal charges) Video technology to assist refs
simple changes to make the game a fairer and more gentlemanly game.

The match was certainly a great advert for div 2 football. Both teams played some great football in the right spirit and it was more enjoyable to watch than a large percentage of Stoke games last season. Maybe our memories are getting confused by all the success we have had in the last 4/5 years. For every Crewe v Cheltenham play off final there are scores of Macclesfield v Barnet (no disrespect to either) horror games, getting soaked standing on terraces and selling your best players...no thanks. Having said that I am looking forward to getting to the odd Fleetwood town game next season.
