Been mooching through some history stuff about us on Internet and was wondering if there is actually any video footage of that momentous day at Meadow Lane in 79.
I know Roots puts lots of video stuff on this site, but was wondering if there is any of that particular game..?

Remember going, but had my wallet stolen by a fellow Stokie in the away end. Having to explain to my Commanding Officer why my RAF Identity Card was stolen, was very hard.

Looking in the loft the other day I found my copy of the match day programme for this game. And inside were the ticket stubbs in excellent condition. Ahhh the memories. ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/kwfoKwtHI0jglJZ4qZf6.gif)

No cameras there that day as ATV (this was pre Central days) sport decided that Wolves mid table game was of more interest to midlands viwers than Stoke key promotion game (against another midlands side). Bastards.

No cameras there that day as ATV (this was pre Central days) sport decided that Wolves mid table game was of more interest to midlands viwers than Stoke key promotion game (against another midlands side). Bastards. A decent summary, and this would have had nothing to do with the fact that Billy Wright held (inexplicably) a very prominent position in ATV's sports production operation. In fact ATV (and indeed Central) seemed consistently to forget that the Potteries was (largely) in its catchment audience. Derby? Yes. Leicester? Yes. Villa? Absolutely. Forest? Certainly. Coventry? Why not? Stoke? Who? As for this game, you would have thought there would be some dodgy, grainy Super 8 footage somewhere, but I do not recall seeing it - and if Roots cannot unearth it, I doubt anyone else can. That is a shame, as others suggest. Accounts of awaydays were in those days notoriously unreliable, and almost invariably exaggerated. But I would say everything you hear about that day was accurate. a truly monumental occasion.
