“Lesbos the third largest Greek island is located in the far east of the Aegean sea, facing the Turkish coast, but with a population of around 90,000, a third of which lives in its bustling cosmopolitan capital Mytilini, has over 320 kilometres of coast, steeped in ancient and modern history. A favourite for bird watchers in spring due to its location on the migratory Asia to Europe routes Lesbos has lots to offer the package and independent travellers. One hotel is offering an extraordinary savings for its clients in 2012. The Pela Hotel, managed by Panagiotis, his daughters Thekla and Pela (hence the hotel name), has been described as a large villa or a boutique style hotel is located in the picturesque fishing village of Skala Kalloni in the centre of Lesbos, on the shore of the huge intruding Gulf of Kalloni. Celebrating twenty years since opening the hotel, a double room with en-suite bathroom and breakfast included, is just €20 per night in high season (normally €55-€60). Flights are available to Lesbos directly from Gatwick and Manchester or indirectly via Athens from a number of UK airports. Half-board is available, as is car hire arranged by the hotel from €20-€30 per day. Reservations can be made directly with the Pela Hotel via their website at www.pelahotel.gr/english.htm
