Would it be worth bringing Liam back as an alternative on the right wing. He's not as pacy or as tricky as Pennant, but he's a good crosser and has a knack of scoring. Certainly better in that wide right position than Walters or Shotton, who are often chosen before Pennant. Been out on loan at Cardiff because Pompey couldn't afford his wages (as reported). Knows his way around Pulis-ball.... could be an ideal fit.

Could do a job instead of Shotton like you say, but we should be bringing in atleast one more quality winger, like Jarvis...
So there really shouldn't be any need

He would be useful back up, but I think our aim should be to sign players who can make JP back up, not obvious bench warmers, we should be improving the first team and by definition the squad (via current 1st XI dropping onto bench), not signing players for the 2nd XI

He wasn't good enough before he left, so what will have made him better?

Lenny was my favourite Stoke player when he was here and was gutted when he left.
Lookin at it now though, I think we are worlds apart and have moved on from him. Would love to see him back at the club one day in some sort of coaching capacity but as a player just cant see it.
Besides Pulis deems Shotton more of a threat on the wing than a natural right winger in Pennant. Lenny would have zero chance.

Liam Lawrence? You jest, sir! Ok, I take your point. But isn't Ryan Shotton in that position an even bigger joke?

Given how many games Pennant has missed this year, Liam would have been a good replacement but the reality is he wanted to play every week and we couldn't offer that to him.
Personally I think he'd have been better staying here and clocking up 20 odd games a season but there you go.

Certainly a better option than Shotton?

Whats this board obsession with having average championship footballers as coaches. Delap Lawrence I'd much rather have professional coaches who have experience in that role and could well actually teach our youngsters how the game is played. Not some thick as fuck average footballer.

When you use the shotton argument...then yes.
But all in all, he wasn't getting played before we sold him...and we've moved on alot since then...
I loved Liam when he was here, great championship player, fantastic delivery, his goal vs Coventry...had me in tears.

Shotton is not a Premiership player. Doubtful if he belongs in the Championship.

If we brought in Jarvis then i'd take him. Hes far better back up than Walters and Shotton combined.

Lawrence was instrumental in our promotion and I loved him as a player and he'll forever go down as one on the promotion legends but to bring him back now? really? He's a Championship player at best unfortunately, even the anti-TP posters on this board will probably even acknowledge that TP called this one right. IF he wasn't why have no-one else in the Prem ever tried to sign him, plenty of the promotion sides would have seen him, not one has been interested, just those clubs hoping to gain promotion. It's going to be a fun summer of daft bloody posts about every single player that's looking for a club
