They are determined yet again to undermine England's Euro campaign based on a complete fabrication of untruths again! They will be so happy if we fail in this tournament
German football club Bayern Munich have released a statement in response to the Sun's backpage story: "Roy Who?" which quotes Bayern Munich's Bastian Schweinsteiger admitting: "I don't know Roy Hodgson."
"We are surprised by the reports relating to Roy Hodgson in the English media and would like to clarify the situation," said the statement.
"We have a high regard for Mr Hodgson and, like our sporting federation the DFB, would like to congratulate him on his appointment as England manager.
"As a coach and manager Mr Hodgson is of course very well known in Germany and it should be made clear they have nothing but respect for Mr Hodgson and his record.
"In no way did they or anyone at Bayern Munich question, or criticise his appointment."

Just one more in a 40 year string of lies, half-truths and sensationalisations. Absolute scum of a newspaper.

The Sun also ran a story on Capello with the headline "Capello warns Hodgson" and then listed comments from an interview he made before Hodgson was appointed.

They should take a good look at their own scumbag management team first! The ones that approve the hacking of murdered girls phones etc. Roy Hodgson is worth ten of that lot!

Does it really matter who's in charge? England will never win anything with the crop of players we've got. we've been producing average players for years. We always depend on the likes of Lampard, Gerrard and Rooney to come up trumps when it comes to a tournament and they just never turn up like they do in the premier league. it says a lot when the most impressive English midfielder this season is Paul Scholes
but yeah, COME ON ENGLAND! ;D

The S*n is running a very clever campaign uniting the majority of England fans behind Hodgson! maybe that will be a side effect, but that is definitely not their motive. Their agenda is that they want England to fail at the Euros so that they can spout off about how the FA should have appointed the people's choice as championed by the Sun.

The point is is a lot of supposed ITK pundits (including presumably the Sun's sport team) had put their mortgages (and their reputations) on the Twitcher getting the job. They've now got their arses in their hands because they've been made to look the nomark know nothings they really are.

If you know what you are looking for it is really quite obvious how The Sun operates. I bought The Sun on Wednesday morning at Birmingham Airport as I think its sports coverage is ok. This was the morning after Rupert Murdoch was declared "not fit" to run a major corporation. I don't necessarily agree with the finding but this major news was hidden away on page 7 of The Sun with no mention at all on the front page. The Sun knows its readers are interested in the back page/inside back pages/front page/page 3/racing/crossword-puzzle page/agony aunt and TV in that order. The average Sun reader gets nowhere near any 'news"pages. It has a very significant influence on the way people think in the UK. It is unfortunate but politicians recognise its power and try to manipulate it for their own ends. It is sad but a fact of life in the UK (and, no doubt, the rest of the world) these days. It is a very powerful & manipulative organisation.

There's been a ton of reasons never to buy the Sun for years, not least of which is because it is quite simply full of lies and run by a megalomaniac whose sole purpose is to influence the public and politics for his own gain. Yet people continue to buy it. It's a losing battle trying to educate people not to buy the Sun. In short, people are stupid (so stupid they'll even vote for an insane Tory as London Mayor just because 'he's funny').

If you think this is bad, just imagine what they would have done to Harry once he had the job. The British press were all clamouring for H as England boss because they could then really go to town on all the "rumours" about his alleged dodgy dealings etc. It had nowt to do with who might be best for the job.
By all accounts Hodgson is a very bright, well educated man (speaks 5 languages) who really knows his stuff.
I say Good luck Roy! Hope he finds some decent English players (not sure where from) and creates a good team...brings to mind Walter Winterbottom and Alf Ramsey...and they were 2 of the very best

The average Sun reader gets nowhere near any 'news"pages. It has a very significant influence on the way people think in the UK. I Sad but true, stop buying it friend, there's better sport coverage elsewhere. I don't spend a lot of time in the UK so like to get my hands 'dirty' by reading the newspapers when I am here. The Sun + The Times were the only newspapers on the stand at the time (it was an early flight). I bought both. To be fair to The Times it reported the Murdoch case on the front page. It's not just The Sun that is guilty of 'propaganda'. The whole of UK society is built on 'spin' these days. p.s. I have never read The Sunday Sun. Is it any different from the News of the World that it replaced?
