It'll be sad to see such a massive institution as Glasgow Rangers go to the wall, but with each passing day it looks to be more and more inevitable. Yep will be awful to see that bunch of bigots suffer ;D x 100000

Are you saying that every man jack of them knew all about the corruption and under-hand dealing that the clubs officials were carrying out in their name? No, I thought not and to be honest if our management team were taking us to the next level by such means, I doubt if we would think about the why's and where for's too deeply, do you? It doesn't matter. The club was cheating on an institutional scale over many years and now it has had its comeuppance. I've got more sympathy with the fans of other clubs who were cheated by them. What you're essentially arguing is that clubs should be allowed to cheat and then get away with it because: WON'T SOMEBODY THINK OF THE FANS?To be fair Mark, I don't think he is saying that. The situation at Rangers (or Pompey) could pretty much happen to any football supporter, even we (Stoke City) are spending more on players and salaries than we're making as a club, for sure it all appears to be sustainable at the moment but who knows what might be round the corner - there's so much that the average joe in the stands isn't privy too. And even if a specific set of fans were worried that their chairman was spending more than he can afford, what are they supposed to do - start boycotting games because the club just bought a new 10 million pound striker? The problem is not rogue or even just plain daft football owners but it's the fact that both the Scottish and English FA's allow rogue or daft football owners to jepoardise the future of football clubs, clubs that in most cases have at least a 100 years of heritage, football clubs that are a part of the fabric of the local community and as such the respective FA's have a duty to protect and ensure their continued existence. The current situations are an absolute tragedy for the supporters of both Rangers and Portsmouth and in order to prevent other football fans finding themselves in a similar position, a massive sea change needs to occur within football, through a series of tough legislation implemented by the custodians of the game. Clubs are coming close to going to the wall because chairman and chief execs of those clubs are paying footballers to have their fifth 50k car in a garage they very rarely even open, never mind drive. Tom Soares is driving round in a brand new Lamborghini - maybe I should protest to Pulis, Scholes and Coates about it, on their way in through the main entrance tomorrow.

I only partly agree in the case of Rangers because it wasn't about this one man, but a case of a club thinking it was playing by its own rules over a number of years. Of course the SFA and FA should be more careful about club ownership but they should also come down harder on clubs that are structurally unsound. I would have thought that even a basic grasp of the economics of a particular club would set alarm bells going when they are clearly overspending on players, have no systems in place to deal with a downturn in fortunes or when they are gambling with the future profitability of the club as happened here (and at Man Utd).
I know it's a shame for the Rangers fans that this has happened to their club, but my honest reaction is 'tough shit' because they have been cheating other clubs for years. What makes it worse is that I understand things like the use of fake contracts has been well known for a long time.
You arguing that administrators need to get tougher is just pissing in the wind. The FA and SFA are scared of some of the people they are supposed to administrate.
I get the feeling Pulis might join you in your protest at Soares' Lambo. When you're done, get Tony Norcop to join you to respray Pennant's car.

Interesting times North of the border. What happens when a two horse race becomes a one horse race? Is this the opportunity the FA are waiting for to shuffle Celtic into the English league system?

why do the owners of football clubs think they can dodge paying bills that the rest of us have to pay it pisses me off it really does. if a club goes into administration then they should have the last ten years of history wiped off the slate. would portsmouth have won the fa cup if they hadnt of cheated?, would rangers have won their prem league titles without cheating? the answer is a resounding no so their victories are meaningless and should be wiped from all records.
