You can't justify a managers position simply because he got us to an FA Cup final. Do you really think we've evolved in terms of the quality of our football since promotion? Gordon Strachan, Dave Jones and Dennis Wise send their regards... None of 'em lasted very long after their Wembley defeats, did they? Yes, but they all made an absolute bollocks of their day job, didn't they? I think Strachan might be the exception - he resigned in the February of a season where Southampton had a UEFA Cup campaign and even then only to 'take a break'. Jones obviously presided over umpteen Cardiff capitulations and Wise relegated Millwall, didn't he? TP hasn't done anything like that. He's achieved his goals in every single season, perhaps even surpassing them. I think he's earned a bit of trust. Every season he's had his doubters and every season his doubters have said 'I was wrong, TP was right, he's proved me wrong and I'll give him the benefit of the doubt in the future'. We have genuinely improved season after season under him - play-offs, promotion, survival, consolidation and a cup run with a superior points total, Cup Final and Europe in that order.

looks like the majority is a yes! Another problem with him is we all know the shite players that play now we still be playing come September when the window is closed! Whelan, whitehead, Wilko, shotton, Walters etc!! I'm sure Tony doesn't want half the games we do in the same way! Them players are dire most of the time and cause more problems than positives! How long is it going to be until he keeps playing these shite players and a fans turn against him?! Match days just arnt the same this season! The excitement has gone out of them! I walk up to te Brit thinking how many are we going to concede today? Is our best 11 going to be played? this is down to TP yet he is so stubborn and will refuse to chance anything this is the root of the problem!! How is 30/68 a majority?

If I were Coates I wouldn't let him have another £ of my money, let alone million. That said, never forgiven Coates anyway, so maybe they deserve each other.

He's a divisive, stubborn, irritating, prevaricating, one dimensional knobweed. But maybe, just maybe they are some of traits that have got us where we are, so much as it pains me to say it.... No

I have deliberated over this question now for weeks (months) and have settled on NO. Many of the arguments in favour of change inevitably talk of our failure to evolve, his team selection, poor signings and overall negativity away from home. None of these critiques are new and a quick look at our away record suggests we are winning more away than we did at least after promotion. Picking points up at the likes of Liverpool, Spurs, Villa and Everton does not, of course, mask a number of truly dire away days but does at least underline that we remain competitive at this level. I have seen, over the years, the damage done by constantly changing managers and will therefore continue to support TP. Having said all that, I have never before wavered in my backing for the man and acknowledge and respect any Stokie who feels differently. After all, was it not Bill Shankly who laid the foundations at Liverpool but Bob Paisley who built on them. The original poster asked for a yes or no answer. Sorry, far too difficult an issue for that.

Definitely not, we have just been through a very tough season where the extra games and travel of the Europa league cost us form and points and could have easily put us in the relegation places. After the promising end to last season we've played some dire shit this season but I do think that it is largely down to the Europa league and the manager's fear of the unknown causing him to grind his way to the 40 point safety mark.

No BUT his credit is running low. He has to sort out key positions in the summer (not the end of August) and really hit the ground running. I think it is do or die by Christmas.
I will be forever grateful but I think, deep down, the sands of time are running out.

No but he must get a grip
Walters / Crouch doesnt work, the midfield is shit, he needs full backs and as for the shit we've played recently........

No, but if its still turgid dross by Xmas, yes I agree with that, Bunny. But I can't say I'd give a shit if he left this summer. I know what you mean, but surely the first reaction of all Stokies upon his departure would be to express their gratitude for what he has done. Bit more than not giving a shit - which makes it sound a bit like Doris the tea lady has taken gardening leave.

;D thats the season i meant. Thank god for that. I though Ukyestony had found a partner who appreciated the "absorbing" football. ;D You know as well as I do that the Preston Boxing Day game was a perfect example of two sides constructed with limited resources playing out an honest, absorbing game of football. Or was Preston the year before that? Was Boxing Day in the Binary Season the one where Wayne Thomas scored that spectacular own goal against Leeds?
