He's been tweeting about how ill he is all week.
Says it was his first training session of the week today.
Doubt he'll start on that basis.
Hopefully Walters will play out on the right, freeing up Ric for a belated start.
Much more likely Ryan 'Bale' Shotton will start, though - with the old favourite Crouch-Walters combo given more chance to prove that it's not a viable partnership.

oh bollox. Not sure if he would have got a start anyway though, my guess is the plan is to keep it real tight and hit them on the break, this approach has recently become very fashionable with English clubs and is known as "doing a Chelsea" since Di Matteo jumped on the TP bandwagon last night.

If he had proper flu he wouldn't be tweeting, let alone playing on Saturday. I think you mean he has a cold.

What has Fuller done to deserve a start? The one game he did start in the Prem he cost us any chance of getting anything from. Jerome deserves a place if Pennant is out, Fuller simply doesn't.

If you're taking somebody as creative as Pennant out of the XI you should at least try and replace him with similar quality. I'll be frigged off if he sticks Walters out there.

Pennant is an injury/illness doubt every week!
Bet if there was a party to go to he would recover lol
Not sure what the clamour for Ric is about, has done nothing of note this season and only looks half the player.
I would prefer Crouch on his own up top, and a 5 man midfield
Bego/Sorro Shotts/Wilko Huth Shawx Wilson Shotts/Walters Whitehead Palacios Whelan Ethers Crouch

Besiktas he scored via a deflection but was so so............Sunderland was no threat at all - Derby and Gills did ok v lower league sides.
Two Prem games and he was completely average in one and sent off in the other.

He was knackered after 30 mins at Besiktas, Sunderland? And I would expect a player of Rics cailbre to look good against Derby and Gillingham
He played OK for 45 mins against Valencia too
I love him to bits, I'm just saying that he isnt the same player now as injury and fitness has taken its toll, and dont understand why you think he will suddenly become the player he was 4 years ago and make us into some sort of complete team
I am allowed an opinion!
Would love to be wrong though, I would have his babies if I was a woman!

Fair enough, Robo.
But I don't see this "half the player" thing.
Even in his hour in the snow against Sunderland, he was still our biggest threat by a mile. It's all relative as we often have NO threat!
I actually thought he looked close to his old electric self at Derby. That was the cameo that convinced me he still had something to offer.
But he has had no pre-season and is obviously way short of proper fitness with one league start in sixteen months.

So the best you can do to defend Fuller is criticise another player? Says it all. Been excellent for us but is clear to see that we can't offer him a 3 year contract no matter how much you try to convince yourself. Players move on ........will be a shame to see him go but that's football. We had absolutely NO threat for 90 mins v Sunderland....Fuller or otherwise

Two Prem games and he was completely average in one and sent off in the other. Sunderland he was our only chance of a goal all game. Same when he came on against Fulham. Same even in his five minute cameo against Liverpool at Anfield. Nothing depresses me like Stoke fans desperate to write off Ricardo Fuller.

Fuller was the only player who looked like doing anything against Sunderland. 3 year contract no. One year contract on sensible wages yes. lets hope Ric and his representation agree Money's going to be important to him. But if he's going to feature as sparingly as he has done in the last 4 months, he'd probably be inclined to go elsewhere, all things considered - almost regardless of what we offered. It could be interesting, though. No offer is going to get remotely close to the money he's been on here since he signed his revised Premier League contract. And if he has to drop to the Championship, a 3-year deal there will probably only equate to his salary from this season alone
