Just driving home from work 15 minutes ago and came up with a question in my head as I drove down the D road.
Would the Brit fit on the Vic site ?

no chance its a fairly small piece of ground and the brit just by it self would take up allot of it if not more space it would not be possible to build a ground of that size and for the local area to be able cope with it.

but alos adding to that i think we should of brought the land back and put the training ground there when we rebuilt it.

If you have been down to Clayton wood and seen the place then you will see that it would not fit on the Vic site, especially with the new extensions planned.
I would just love to see something done with the land for once.

St Modwen have a very long record of owning 'brown'field' sties across the midlands & doing nothing with them for years, decades.

What I'd love to see on the Vic site but will never happen for a multitude of reasons is that it is turned into a community football centre. Run properly it would have a club house, a number of pitches and teams of all ages playing the game. The aim would be for the community and hopefully to find the next Andy Wilkinson but with better distribution! But alas it's just a dream.

I would love St Modwen to build apartments on the Vic site in the same external height and footprint as the old Vic stands, with the pitch left as public open space. You wouldn't need any of the old structure for it to work if properly done, for example using red surface finishes on the Butler Street side. I bet they'd have no problem selling them either.
If anyone has been to the redeveloped Highbury they will know where I'm coming from. (Yes I know it's A*senal but that's not the point.) Very little of the old stadium is visible but it is still an amazing space when you walk into it because your mind fills in the missing bits.

Most of 'the locals' have lost a community now we are at the Brit and the town centre has an abundance of closed shops. I'm sure they never moaned when matthews and the rest were gracing the place and the town was vibrant on a match day bringing money into the town. Yes they'll moan about fighting but that was a small period in a long history at the vic. If they didn't like it they should have moved and let genuine football fans live there, I would loved to have lived by the vic as a kid.

I think any redevelopment of the old vic site required the river trent being re-routed which pushed up costs
they were on about running the stadium the other way so the home end would have been where the tunnel was
nothing wrong with the new stadium other than location
our stupid council fucked it up - the stadium should have stayed where it was and the city would have been thriving

It's a valiant effort, but I was thinking more along the lines of the flats superimposed onto the Vic site, and with the Boothen End pitched rood superimposed on the block at the top left.

I dunno, if you want something piss-poorly mocking up in this world you've just got to piss-poorly mock it up yourself sometimes. I do hope my efforts to include the Boothen End roof and the Butler St entrance (including 1980s badge) haven't gone unappreciated.

It should be bought by the council and turned into a park. They've spunked enough cash on the vale to merit it.

It's a disgrace that it's being allowed to remain un-developed. Surely the council were aware of st modwens track record on this. The whole town has gone down the shitter and the useless short sighted council sit on their fuckin arses and do fuck all. Too busy re building Hanley-on Trent and spunking away millions on having plans drawn up repeatedly until their vision of the"city centre" is complete and no more fuckin money left to do anything else for another year.

15 years and counting and the only development on the site in that time has been thousands of Dog Turds!!!

Couldnt run a fuckin bath.
