The most knowledgeable pundit by a country mile. Cant help but like the guy. My favourite thing hes said recently was about Balotelli's sending off last week: "This game has descended into a circus. And whenever I've been to a circus, there's always been a few clowns." Lovely stuff.

I didn't see it but wasn't the olives and vinegar thing used as a way of suggesting that diving wasn't really cheating?

I didn't see it but wasn't the olives and vinegar thing used as a way of suggesting that diving wasn't really cheating? I think he was trying to say diving represents a change in footballing culture akin to waiters bringing olives and balsamic with bread when it just butter ten years ago. I'd stopped listening properly because it was nearly 11pm and as good as he is, my attention had drifted. Talking shit, obviously. You can send the olives and balsamic back just as you can crack down on diving.

I didn't see it but wasn't the olives and vinegar thing used as a way of suggesting that diving wasn't really cheating? He did an article in one of the papers at the weekend where he said that he used to talk to Androgynous Ronaldo about why he always cheated and was told that he considered an attempt at tackling him from the side to be a far worse crime than any dive and that he needed to dive to protect his precious little legs. There was also a bit about how, when he was a young player and playing in youth tournaments abroad, he used to just have to accept the fact that the other teams were filled with cheating little shits and get on with it, instead of getting sent off all the time. I suppose that might be his theme for this week.

I like the fact he breaks ranks and talks about his football life with honesty giving good insight.
We all say how much we dislike the diving. Gary Neville tells us what what Ronaldo said. No better insight than that.
