I may be alone but given that 2 of my best mates are Geordie Season Ticket holders who now live in London and travel back for almost all home matches, I quite like Newcastle.
Watched them many times when Stoke haven't been playing and have to say that the atmosphere in their ground during the Kevin Keegan inspired seasons was the closest thing I have witnessed to the support our team gets.
Newcastle is a great City and whilst they may have some delluded folk that support them, they actually live for their club in big numbers. You won't see a Geordie in any other football shirt other than a Newcastle one for sure.
They have done great this season but when the beat us at the Brit, having had to face the flak from my pals, I was honestly convinced that we would finish above them. We reeled them in then they got away again so I will be £ 50 worse off come the end of the season.
Fair play to them. They have done great. I am looking forward to my visit up to the titty bars on Saturday but don't think we will win or even pick up a point. If they score early, we will be easy pickings!

Another Newcastle supporter here. As has been said, the view here is not totally representative. What makes english football worth watching is the variety of styles and challenges. We have had a good season, as you did last year. Your lot are an example as to why clubs need to invest when they have the opportunity. Frankly, we would have difficulty in sustaining a campaign in Europe with the present depth of squad. We have been fortunate in two good runs, 7 wins in the first 11 games and winning the last 5. Thank you for rejecting Ba for the first run and we did well with Cisse for the latest run. Well done for consolidating in the Premier League and apart from Saturday, all the best for the rest of the season. spot on Sir! this is the point many people fail to notice; there is NOT one way to play football, it really is that simple and Greece proved that a few years ago by winning the Euros..this did not ruin any kind of football development and although some may have disapproved of the style they employed to achieve it, i'm fairly sure that that didn't stop the Greek fans loving every minute of their time in the sun and the glory they brough back home. quite simply, we shouldn't really care what other fans think of us as long as we are happy with what we achieve (and i think it is quite hypocritical to slate Newcastle fans for slating us when many of our own "Fans" on here do nothing but exactly the same thing but with more regularity and venom than anyone on that thread) then that's all that matters. try and remember lads and lasses that a handful of Geordies on that thread isn't going to be representative of what all their fans think (in the same way that people on here that hate certain clubs don't represent all Stoke fans), some will see us as refreshing for having a different approach and some will be completely apathetic about us in general. we have enough threads on here about the "Swansea love in and their style of Sideways, gaining no ground, achieving nothing tippy tappy football" and slated the Baggies enough a few seasons ago for saying they'd rather play proper footballl and go down than play our style and stay up, we call Wenger deluded whenever he opens his mouth and call for King Kenny to be comitted whenever we get the chance; in other words, calm down, we do exactly the same thing about other clubs and it's just the views of a few people that don't like our style of play (and probably younger fans at that who know nothing BUT football since the dawn of Premiership football, otherwise they would realise that rather than being anti-football it's pretty much what just used to be called "Football" 25 years ago) i must admit i don't have a problem with Newcastle, i think they've done amazingly well this season and don't attribute it to just a fluke (if they had only been in the top 8 or so for the last few weeks then fair enough but they have been consistent the whole season so far), what i have far more of a problem with is the amount of posters on here that say the same as is posted on the Geordie's thread day in, day out about the team that they themselves support. that worries me far more than an opposing team's fan not really liking us very much.

There is having a 'style' then there is boring the shit out of your own support whilst dressed up as a 'style', I'd call our approach many things, but the last thing I'd call it is 'style'.
