Me Mam's a Geordie, so I'm sort of in two minds about willing them any further success this year......part of me would like to see them get into Europe then get seven shades of shit kicked out of 'em .......another part of me wants to see them tumble down the table, losing all their remaining games (starting with this weekend, of course ), and finish below us..... Yeah, that's what I'd like ;D ;D

I think more than a few of these 'footballing purists' would change their minds if they had to watch a league full of Barcelona clones all play football 'the right way' against each other for a full season!
They would be begging for some blood n guts football teams by Christmas.

Humility and Newcastle fans is a concept that has never fitted. They are like the Scousers of the North. I am waiting for next season because if Newcastle qualify for Europe it will sort the men from the boys. Their squad is far to slim to mount a credible performance on all fronts without splashing cash. Their finances are far from sound and spending big style over the summer will be the potential ruin .... So the ravings of their fans about Stoke mean nothing to me. Karma is waiting in the wings to bite them on the bum I can't measure humility so won't comment on that. Our squad is a bit on the thin side, however, is it any thinner than the squad Birmingham have had this season while competing in Europe? I don't think it will be and the quality of our squad should be better than Birmingham have got. Our finances are very good, we actually made a loss of only £4 million in the last financial year before player trading. After player trading we made a profit in the region of £31 million, we'll more than likely do better this year before player trading as we'll get more money for finishing higher and we've been televised more. My guessing is that we'll see another £6-10 million come in on top of what came in last season.

Didnt they lose 6 1 to the rugby team last season or did i fucking dream it Our heaviest defeats were 4-0 against you and 5-1 against Bolton. At home we won 6-0 against Villa, 5-1 against the mackems, 5-0 against West Ham, 4-1 against Wolves but the craziest result was 4-4 against Arsenal after being 4-0 down after26 minutes.

Mr Sewelly, would you please point the moron who posted that drivel in the direction of this board ? I feel a debate coming on Lets see if he has the bottle to expand. I'm not sure where its come from so I can't help, I would like to add that the views appear to be slightly arrogant and a bit cringeworthy. He or She knows how football should be played and anything which differs from his/her vision of football is shit. To be fair, I don't know why people have such strong views on other teams. I couldn't care less about other teams in the way he/she seems to as I think it's for the fans of clubs to decide what they think about the club they support. I do look at teams and hope that we can one day become what they are but I certainly wouldn't have a go at the way other teams play unless they are kicking teams into orbit.

People go on about Swansea and Norwich but I think Newcastle are the most successful club to come out of the Championship in recent years.

Wouldn't get upset by one fans extreme views - he's only one of what, 52,000, &that's only the ones who attend matches, there's prob hundreds of thousand N/C fans worldwide - bet the majority couldn't give a fig about us, apart from twice a season, or cup matches?

I wish Stoke nothing but good, at least I will after Saturday because the points will mean less to you than they do to us. I can guarantee you that as a Stoke fan, three points to us mean far more than three points to you. We're desperate to reach 50 points and will be a massive achievement. We're desperate for a strong finish of the season to finish top of that bunch in the middle of the table. Dont underestimate for one moment that we've not got anything to play for

Well done to you Geordies, apart from the few who are above themselves and we all have that sort. I'm one of many who had you down for relegation and congratulate you on appointing Pardew and getting into Europe, instead. We need a win, as sewelly says, but not least to become the Midland champs for the first time and to get a few extra millions for additional PL placements.

Another Newcastle supporter here. As has been said, the view here is not totally representative. What makes english football worth watching is the variety of styles and challenges.
We have had a good season, as you did last year. Your lot are an example as to why clubs need to invest when they have the opportunity. Frankly, we would have difficulty in sustaining a campaign in Europe with the present depth of squad.
We have been fortunate in two good runs, 7 wins in the first 11 games and winning the last 5. Thank you for rejecting Ba for the first run and we did well with Cisse for the latest run.
Well done for consolidating in the Premier League and apart from Saturday, all the best for the rest of the season.

Dont underestimate for one moment that we've not got anything to play for They're playing for a champions league spot, we're playing for a new club record and best ever premier league finish. They do have more to play for, but I think Tone is a better motivator of players than Pardew. Overall, I'd say that both teams will be 100% motivated and up for this game.

We are sure to want it more than them

It would be hard for them to lose out on qualification with only 5 games left.

Ive just robbed this of there forum and this is what i stumbled on i had to laugh when i saw it just want see what your opinions are ? I just hope that Pardew, for just one game, doesn't prepare a specific game-plan (and with it compromising the formation) to nullafy Pulis' anti-football pattern of play. In attack Stoke play for stoppages in their attacking half, and batter teams in the box. They're much more structured & methodical than the Wimbledon Crazy Gang teams, hence they're tough to prepare against. You just have to be mentally ready for the physical challenge etc that Stoke offers. Personally i think Pulis (at least on the field) is bringing the game into disrepute, and there are others too. I'm not Mancini's biggest fan, but fair play to him for recently refusing to to acknowledge him (shake his hand iirc) post game. The football Pulis coaches (or the dog's breakfast that it is) isn't in the spirit of the game,. It's impossible to dock them points but looking at the bigger picture the FA has to grow some balls and set a precedent, for the good of the game in this country - at least from a player development aspect, and we're far behind the Germans atm. If clubs like Stoke willingly & continue to employ an anti-football philosophy, by employing specialist anti-football coaches as a means of ensuring they pick up their annual slice of the premiership moneytrain, then penalise them financially. The likes of Pulis & Allardyce (ie. survival specialists, who are the anti-thesis of actually developing players technically), with their ideas, will eventually be phased out of the game if clubs come to the realisation that they're poisoned chalices. This should be pinned on the dressing room wall on Saturday what more motivation do the lads need. Also a good crunching tackle from Huth and Shawcross on Demba Ba wouldn't go a miss in the opening seconds either
