Yes but that offer was never on the table for us. The only reason we were ever in the driving seat on the Ba deal was the £10m that we could afford and Wham couldn't. Once the price dropped Wham (who were always Ba's prefered option) could afford to come in for him. Sorry mate, I don't have a clue what you're on about. Wham split up years ago! ;D |

His movement around the pitch certainly looks more laboured when compared to the new lad Papiss that we have just bought. However, you just need to look at how we dragged an extra few seasons out of Big Al to see that pace and movement is not everything in a striker. DB can certainly score goals. The main issue was the risk and the cost - for NUFC the balance was obviously right. Does he have a higher chance than others of getting crocked? Probably, but with 16 goals in the onion bag it's not been too bad a gamble. The real question to ask is what our teams scouts are doing about finding the next gem / bargain etc. Neither club is in a position to be shelling out money so finding another Cisse for circa £5-9m should be the priority for anyone looking for a goal scorer. Rather than looking at how you could have had a risky Demba Ba for next to nowt! Lazthemag Do you think Ashley will flog anyone in the summer Laz? Tiote maybe? Ashley sell on? As long as he is selling indonesian football socks to geordie school kids he wont blink an eye at selling Tiote to an Arsenal or whoever (I happen to think he would suit what arsenal are lacking by the way). HOWEVER (big however for a reason) I am not an Ashley basher as I am a commercial realist. Recognising what is going on in football at the minute, for clubs like yours and mine to survive we need to look harder and longer than the biggest clubs to find talent that we can nurture for a season or two and then be prone to poaching... it makes good business sense. As much as it hacked me off to sell Andy Tarmacin' roads Carroll this has proved to be one of the transactions of the century. If we have to sell Ba, Cisse, Cabaye I have to trust our teams ability to find better players or at least to get us somewhere near to competing and for the time being that must be satisfactory to a NUFC fan that was watching championship football a couple of seasons ago. If you fancy paying £30m for Cisse I will be happy to act as agent between SCFC and Mr Ashley. Howay the lads - 2:0 to the toon on my revised forecast! Lazthemag |

Lazthemag Think you may want to read a couple of the other threads about DB, especially those reponses from KKK; Ba was with us for a while before everything fell apart, living with Mamma and being nurse maided by Salif 24/7. I think you may find that Ba had a powder based problem that just wouldn't clear up regardless of the volume of water he drank. Needless to say it took the Spammers a few more weeks after he left us to clear the infection up. Obviously there's more to that red syrup than meets the eye. |
