This highlights the current abuse by some of the larger clubs using their financial muscle in signing players and then leaving them in reserves (or worse) or sending them out on loan to lower league teams.
Such abuse makes a mockery of lower league teams (operating within their means), as many don't pay anything or very little for the incoming loan players and it doesn't enable the lower league team to build it's own assets ire contracted players for their own club's balance sheet.
I'm not against the loan system but surely all of the costs have to be taken into account by the borrowing team.

If you remember, we abused the loan system pretty well when we went up.

Brad Jones will do a decent job, but they need a reserve, where's the problem? ???

Brad Jones will do a decent job, but they need a reserve, where's the problem? ??? The big clubs taking all younger talented players on their payroll and loaning them out to lower league clubs with, in reality, little or no chance of playing for their parent club, when the borrowing club gets a youngster on higher wages, than they could ordinarily afford within their own club's wage structure.
