If Liverpool happen to fluke an FA Cup win to sit alongside their Carling Cup victory, how will it affect the Europa League qualification places.
Could Europa League qualification be secured by finishing 8th?

No surely Newcastle claim the Europa spot. Is there not two places from the league?

I think that the prem gets 3 teams for the europa.
5th place - Was Spurs last season. carling cup winners/finalists - Was Birmingham last season. FA cup winners/finalist - Was Stoke last season.
If the fa cup final is between 2 teams already in europe the team in 6th place would qualify.

I thought it was 5th and 6th places + the winners of the FA Cup (losers if the winners are already in Champions League or Europa League).
If Liverpool were to win both cup competitions, and finish 6th, would 7th and 8th get the slots?
TOM - There were 4 English teams in the Europa League this season. Stoke City, Fulham, Tottenham and Birmingham!

I'm not saying we will be Northwich...I am merely asking the question!

I'll rephrase then...If the season were to finish today with Liverpool having won the FA Cup and Carling Cup, how would the Europa League places be allocated?
Presumably, whatever the answer to this question, you would simply switch 4th place and Chelsea around, should Chelsea happen to fluke a Champions League win.

I'm pretty sure if Liverpool beat Everton in the FA Cup semi, 5th and 6th place will both be Europa League places. If Liverpool weren't so shit and got themselves up into one of those two places, 7th would get in as well because the runners up in the Carling Cup DON'T qualify.
