I admire you. Surely it would be easier to wear a Man United shirt like a lot of glory hunters. Like I say, I admire you, well done.

I think it's great that we have such dedicated support in Scandinavia (mainly Norway, a few in Denmark?). Most of them have been part of the Stokie following since the early 70s and are as much a part of what makes this club special as oatcakes, red and white stripes, Wrights Pies, Bass bitter and Pottermus. I felt quite encouraged that, on one of their recent jaunts across the North Sea, they weren't just a load of 40-50 something blokes living on days of Ritchie and Banks, but were whole families, with a new generation of Scandistokies being brought up the right way.

Happy to have you.
It's a fine line though, you only have to look at Liverpool to see what overseas support can do to your rank and file. Supporting Stoke is hardly glory hunting, not in its truest sense.

AlanHansen - That is why I asked. When I travelled from Sweden to places like Southend and Scunthorpe Stokies shook my hand and I was treated with respect. The same happened at Wembley last year but there was also a few Stoke fans who complained that we got tickets ahead of true Stokies from Stoke that had to stay at home. I don´t blame them really but maybe opinions about foreign fans has changed since Stoke are in the PL and there is more competition for tickets at high profile games?

There is a difference between glory hunting and jumping on the bandwagon.
It's not really possible to support Stoke and be a glory hunter. If you were at Scunthorpe and Southend then you've not jumped on the bandwagon either.

Well said Linx. The buggers in Lincolnshire are the ones I'm dubious about. Glory hunters to a man, they should all be supporting the imps or the iron! And I am unanimous in that.

For some reason, LP, I have resisted the temptation to follow the local teams (you forgot the Mariners and the Pilgrims BTW). Because, as a dissolute old veteran poster once said: "You can't take Stoke out of the bloke".

Goes back to the days when Central TV was piped into Scandanavia. My Danish mate was brought up with his dad telling him that Gordon Banks was the world's greatest goalkeeper and he played for Stoke.
He came over at the end of 2010 with dad and brother in tow and I had to take them to Madeley school to have photos on the plinth next to the statue. I even had to drive past the great man's house although with four blokes in a car I told them I wasn't stopping for photos ;D

Does anyone know if we kept any of the Icelandic fans following our recent links. I have been to Iceland every month on business for about 5 years and I can honestly say that I have never bumped into one Stoke fan in the many football bars over there. Went into the English Pub to watch Spurs v Stoke whilst there were three other Pre matches on at the same time, all being shown live. It was just me and an Icelandic Spurs fan watching our game whilst most others were glued to QPR Liverpool and Everton Chelsea. I think most interest in Stoke died when the Icelanders pulled out. It was also obviously the case that you had to get Icelanders in the team to get Iceland interested in Stoke and to then potentially invest in the club.
