There are only 2 reasons why someone ould get involved in a football club by taking it over with their own money.
1 - They love that club and are a supporter who happens to have a lot of money.
2 - They see an opportunity to make money for THEMSELVES.
We can rule number 1 out straight away so lets look at number 2. There are a number of ways of making money (allegedly) out of a football club:-
i)Invest wisely, have fabulous business acumen, increase crowds and get them promoted - seriously how many clubs has this happened to?
ii) Invest your own money, others people's money or money that doesn't exist, get yourself onto the board and pay yourself a fabulous salary - sounds familiar for the Vale - I think this is the main reason people get involved at board level at clubs they have no affiliation with - the added bonus is that if it goes tits up you have assets to sell (usually land).
Most successfull business people are very shrewd characters who only do things to make money and only then when they believe that their chances of making money are very good. As i) above never seems to happen the only conclusion is that ii) above is the reason for anyone to get involved in a club they do not support.
If I as a Vale fan I would be very worried for the short/mid term
Thank god for St Peter being in the 1 catagory.
