The Mirror are very late with this one - the interview was picked up by most of the papers last week. Must be a slow news day in Mirrorland.

You won't be the only one. It is odd that a player can take more than a aseason to get fit. You wonder why TP didn't just take him out of the squad and give him a full preseason with one of the coaches. OK, he wouldn't have gone to Austria but it shouldn't be too hard to replicate a full pre season. Or is TP saying that (at present) he isn't fit enough for pre season - in which case it gets a bit worrying.

He certainly looked fitter and slimmer even last game so hopefully he is well on his way now. Keep it up WP

fair play to TP i say! at least he's consistent with giving people with knee problems a fair chance to get themselves fit before binning them off and publicly stating they're ready for the scrap heap

Pulis does this every year, Tuncay, Palacios etc. If he wants to get people "stoke fit" and give them a proper pre season, why doesn't he just buy players two months earlier, instead of moaning they're not fit 4 months down the line. Winds me up.

Played well against Man C, taking them on in midfield and preventing us from playing too deep. Now needs to be able to do it for 90 mins and be consistent

A total cock up, what has he cost us in fees and wages and what has he actually contributed, a very, very poor signing - remember him when the thought police start trotting out the 'amazingly thorough, does his homework, Tone will sort him out' bollox

We all hope he will come good, but as at now he has been a waste of money and a very poor buy.
Don't pretend we buy players knowing they won't be 'fit' until the following season, which means we spent millions and didn't know or discover his chronic problems. Not what the propoganda machine would have you believe.

Pulis takes the blame if the signing fails and so far it has. However, there's no propoganda around the fact that Palacios himself should be completely ashamed of his own physical condition.

Some more Palacios quotes from today's press conference... www.sportinglife.com/football/premiership/news/story_get.cgi?STORY_NAME=soccer/12/03/29/SOCCER_Stoke_Nightlead.html&TEAMHD=premiership&BID=312"After the first month, we knew it was going to be a while," Pulis said.
"We knew that it would take patience as much as anything to get Wilson through a period where not only did we get him fit, but also that we didn't work him so hard that it affected his knee.
"But he has looked sharp in training and he has got himself together a little bit more.
"We still have to be careful with him, so we won't get the best out of him until next year I don't think.
"(He played well) for a period (against City), and that is what we are doing for the moment, playing him just for periods of time.
"We still don't think he is ready for 90 minutes (regularly) and we will do it the way we think is the best way to do it, in respect of the medical advice we are getting."
"He joined with an injury that needed a lot of care and attention and that is what we have given him," Pulis said.
"I think we have seen signs and patches of his quality within games that he has played in or come on in.
"But the important thing is that we see him through this period and that he doesn't pick up another injury to set him back, because that would be really soul destroying for him."

Think TP is misreading the situation. The supporters aren't impatient with Palacios , they are impatient with TP for not playing him more. Taking the Ba situation into account, the whole signing seems to be bizarre.
