We did fine first half, second half though Liverpool were the better side. Would it have been different if Walters had put that one away in the first half, gilt edged chance, should have scored, maybe we then could have nicked it.

Wasn't a tap int though was it, but he should have at least got it on target.

I really like the lad, but he should be used a very, very useful squad player and not first name on the team sheet? It was a great bit of footy from Whitehead with a top class through ball at the end of it and although it was by no means a straight forward chance, the fact that it was 2-3 yards wide of the near post speaks volumes of his goal scoring abilities at this level.

Unfortunately he is not the same player from last season and as such isn't really good enough at premier league level.

Our hopes disappeared over the horizon when that chance went begging.

Hind-sight is such a pointless thing. Its like saying what could of been if KJ had buried that chance against Man City last year, no-one could predict the events which would have hap pend if he had scored though, the match would have been completely different.

Forget the missed chance. How good was the pass from Whitehead?
Overall, how well did Whitehead play? I thought he was superb.

Whitehead was superb, excellent pass that needed a striker on the end of it.

Did what he was bought for, broke up play, used the ball pretty well and got about the pitch. Whilst he tired later in the second half I still couldn't fathom out why he was taken off for Delap. ???

"SJW" (for fucks sake, sounds like some character off Sex and the CIty!) is not, never has been, and never will be, a Premiership standard/quality striker. Not sure how TP hoodwinked people into thinking that he was the next Wayne Rooney, Didier Drogba, etc, - but he just aint! I am sure he is a great guy and "works 'ard" but that is not going to mean that he can rip holes into the defence of a team like Liverpool. We need something better to win games like this, and I am sure it will come in time but he is not the answer longer term.

I see where you are coming from on this - but the problem is I just cannot imagine Pulis playing Tuncay with Crouch week-in week-out (regardless of performance / results) like we have seen with Walters. Now maybe that is more of a reflection on the management syle and outlook of Pulis...but I am not brave enough to open up that line of discussion! (after all, I only have a paltry 180 posts to my name, so obviously not worthy enough to question the glorious leader...??!!)

What exactly is "SUPER" about John Walters because i can't see it.........people say on here if you want entertainment go to a circus........and by that token if i want to see runners i will go to an athletics meeting......

Unless the manager.changes there will always be these types of players and selection issues it's just the way he is.Accept Tp and you accept this model as he absolutely won't change as I've said elsewhere it would. Be fascinating to know what his contingency was if Walters got a bad injury in September

Today was one of a number of one on ones he's missed from almost the same position lately. He's not a natural goalscorer. I thought he had a good first half, though.

Not had a clinical finisher at this club since Thorne. In fairness Beattie was a good finisher, probably the closet we've had to having a goal scorer since Thorne.
