Lads (and lasses),
As some of you know a few of us from the Oatie played at Stoke last year.
We are doing the same again on Sunday 27th May at 6.30pm and have a few spaces left.
Total cost is £200 and for that you get about 65 mins of pitch time (rolling subs), use of the dressing rooms, a ticket to the Bolton match, refs and linesmen, your kit with name and number on the back and the chance to share the pitch with Cilla. It is a brilliant day - so if you are interested please either PM me or email me at chrisoct73@yahoo.co.uk.
For the guys that have signed up - just a quick reminder for some and a thanks for paying to others.
So far we have:
• 9 fully paid up • 12 definite but not paid • 5 who said yes but I am waiting confirmation • AND 4 spaces
If you are one of the 5 or you know anyone that would like a game please get them to drop me a line.
If you have not paid can you do so ASAP - please contact me if you don't have the details.
I have paid the £600 deposit and have until the end of the month to pay the balance (£5.4k). I need to make sure I have a full compliment all paid up by then or I may need to call off the game. Stoke have said they will help to try and fill any gaps – so it should be fine – but I would prefer to sort it all ourselves!
The teams:
Home 1 Goalie Davin Bates 2 Defence Iain Cliffe 3 Defence Simon Williams 4 All rounder Mark Calladine 5 Defence Martin Rose 6 Def/wing Matthew Swindells 7 mid/stkr James Lantsbery 8 Centre mid Steve Bancroft 9 mid/striker Gwylim Simcock 10 Striker Chris Dobson 11 mid/def Mark Finney 12 Stkr/mid Ben Edge 13 Right hand Chris Giltrip 14 Stkr/mid Matt Perry 25 Striker Ross Patrick
Away 1 Goalie Phil Parkes 2 Full back Dave Newman 3 Lenny 4 Dave Jones 5 Daryl Heath 30 Midfield Tim Bowyer 7 Striker/Mid Simon Holloway 8 Striker Adam Fairclough 9 11 Striker Dave Beech 10 Left mid Julian Rawlinson 12 13 14 15
In terms of Captains – I was thinking that a couple of Oatcake leg ends might want to take the mantle this year – so step forward Cilla and GD. Hope that is all OK by everyone – if nothing else it should be funny watching Cilla shout at MCF followed by an apology and a quick retreat
That’s all for now. If you can help either pay or get players then that will be really appreciated.
Cheers Chris

I was shocked to find the weekend games at £5k plus VAT, what was it last season, the same?
There's a few weekday afternoon slots left at £3.6k + VAT but how can you get 30 blokes off on a workday afternoon who can afford it?

Who sorted out the away team manager last year? Would definitely help to have someone on the sidelines sorting out the subs and team selection etc.

Maybe Gordon Banks again then have TP as the other manager

Maybe Gordon Banks again then have TP as the other manager unfortunately banks' influence didnt really have a positive effect, so the home team can keep him. And i think our flowing movement and intricate passing would just blow tp's head off:-D

Is anyone running a book on the match, I want to bet on the away team i know half the home team . On another front, thats really not good timing for when they want the money for, its £200 on top of the early bird season ticket deadline, and trips to Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs and Wigan, and also having just forked out for the Valencia trip, will make it a tadge expensive?

Go on I've weakened, am at Porthill Park at the beer festival supping an ageless at 7.5%. This will defo be the FINAL appearance. Seeing my old mates Mr Flirty and MCF signed up, it's about time they had some quality to defend. So signing as a Peter Thorne, also means I will have to go into intensive training! Also now you need to inform Peter Coates of the draw to the crowd, and to start to maybe considering a small charge for admittance? Let the games commence. PS can someone lend me £200, or give me the link to quidco.com? I'll be back

Only thing I skin nowadays are onions :-) A short sharp shock training regime is a must now, to loosen up some aging muscles. Want to go out with a Goal (or 2?) are you looking "jimmyg" ;-)

Just made an appearance as a favour for a friend of a friend and was bloody brilliant. Shared stories with us all and told a few jokes you'd never expect him to come out with What a legend. Plus he went at HT

Very interested in playing, but don't think I know anyone participating.
What standard will the game be? I play Sunday league on and off, but no great shakes.

Dont worry too much about not knowing anyone mate. None of us knew eachother when we did it last year. Im pretty sure that most of us are anywhere near pub league level ;D
