Ex Vale player lives in my street. Top earner is about a grand a week. There are plenty only earning 300 - 400 a week. Well i work nights for that much (£300-£400) and me and the missus and our 2 kids get by ok. If its really that tough for them to get by then i suggest they size down to terraced house and a nice cheap family car. Or the alternative is to turn semi-pro and get a real job as well and for them to start living in the real world! Oh and im losing my fucking job in 5 weeks as well! I think you might be missing the point that they're not actually getting paid anything at the moment. How many nights a week would you work for nothing?

If theyre in the same position 3 or 4 months down the line then i'll sympathise mate. Im sure they could a manage a few weeks.

It doesn't matter how great/easy you think the job is, the lads playing for Vale earn more or less the same as your average man in the street and are trying to support their families. No doubt some of them wouldn't really know how to do much else other than play football - to suddenly have your employers stop paying you because they can't afford it must be very worrying for them. We're not talking about decadent mega-rich superstars like our lot at Stoke. They're just ordinary people with bills to pay.

One of the vale players in sentinel tonight sayin he was supposed be gettin married when season ends but he's having to postpone the wedding cus ov the non payment of wages I am sure his sister sorry partner will understand, perhaps if he goes cap in hand to the council they will give him a wedge of rate payers money, if he has arranged a wedding he couln't possibly realistically afford I am sure they will be sympathetic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes its a laugh as its Vale, but there are SOT people involved here. The council were not so generous with rate payers money when the likes of Wedgwood and Doultons were in the shit were they, yes some local people will loose thier jobs through Vales mismanagment, some local business's probably won't be paid because the club has gone into admin(aided/funded by public money), how many local people lost jobs at Wedgwood and Doulton compared to the numbers likely to be lost at Fail ? sort of pales into insignificance really. Wake up and smell the coffee this is a situation of thier own making not anyone else hence the club should suffer.

So not only have the council basically written off £1.8m of rate payers money, they have spent another £600 grand to do so.
What a great deal for the tax paying citizens of Stoke on Trent.
No doubt we will hear a load of shite from the council about saving a vital part of the community and how much money Vale bring into Burslem on a match day, but what about all the local businesses who thanks to the council will not now be paid what they are owed?
The council should have sat tight and watched someone else either bale them out or wind them up.

The council have underwritten the £600k or £750k to the end of the season, but the club will have to operate on its income and the council picking up any shortfall if required. The additional costs of administration are also included but all creditors will have to wait for payments. This has got a long way to run yet or at least to the end of the season.

Liquidation would mean all their assets being sold off (ground and land etc) to pay off their debts, so surely there is more chance of the council getting its money back by liquidation than by administration?

Some ex Vale player on Radio Stoke saying the present players cant afford to put petrol in their cars. Surprised ANYONE in the UK can afford to put petrol in their cars. How do you people live? Why aren't you out in the streets protesting?

as someone on a different thread has stated, they get unbelievable rental deals through the PFA so are driving cars the could never afford normally, which obviously come with pretty high fuel costs.
