I worked down t'pit. Not around here though and it was in metal mines. I was a geologist. There's a great camaraderie when you work underground that I miss. Better than some dull office job.

I was unlucky enough to work at both the pit and the pots. Not now though thank God!

Miss the Pots like mad. Nobody has dirtier sense of humour than potbank women. Struggle to cope in a PC office. Worked on JB's Imperial & Milton then Grindleys in Tunstall.

It saddens me to see that most of both of these industries has now left the area. Over the past ten years I have gone from PC Office job to office job finally sucumbing to the call centre industry that now dominates Stoke-on-Trent.
So much heritage lost. If your not geared up for customer service or sales these days your looking to struggle.

As a teenager I worked in Midwinters packing Dept for 6 weeks over the Summer and can confirm Spiros opinion of those lovely potbank ladies! I got cornered on several occasions!
