Seeing as summer is round the corner and the football season coming to an end i'm looking to fill my Saturday afternoons with a spot of fishing.
Just need the gear.
Anyone know of any for sale or somewhere cheap to get some?
Got to be decent.

Pickerings mate. Honest as the day is long and a good range of kit, even some used stuff, at bargain prices. I never go anywhere else except sometimes ebay.
Just got a Maver pole seat, full setup off ebay, and bought a new pole from Pickerings. Can't wait to drop a line in.
Tight lines bud.

Ebay is as good a place as anywhere. There's plenty of second hand gear on there.

The essentials can vary mate depending on what you are targeting. If you are a beginner then you are best targeting day ticket waters for various species rather than jumping into targeting specimens such as Carp (like many do), I'd get yourself:-
Float rod and reel Landing Net Seat Box/Carryall Tackle Box for end bits (hooks, floats etc) Unhooking Mat Bait Box/Bucket Terminal Tackle (Hooks etc) Decent Brolly/Day shelter
Just get yourselves the basics and build up your tackle over time as it can be very expensive and there is always something new that you want.

I think Dean has mentioned everything you need in his list but dont forget to get your rod license. Its usually better to buy decent quality second hand kit than cheap new. Have a search on www.preloved.co.uk theres usually a load of decent local stuff on there. Before you buy anthing else please post a link on here and we can give you some advice as to what we think. Any ideas where you will be going fishing? Day ticket?

I would recommend here:- www.badenhall.com/fishery/Any of their pools are fine for float fishing. It would be great place for a beginner as you have a good chance of catching a few and it would help build your confidence up. Theres nothing worse than catching nothing when you first start out.

Blake Hall at Cheadle is good, if you're a novice, fish on the concrete in front of the fishing lodge!

Regards end tackle I'd just go to Pickerings in Burslem or Stapeley. Look out for the Drennan branded stuff especially the hooks. Also when the rod/reel arrives check the quality of the line. It may be worth getting a known brand as this is one area you dont want to cut back on. I recommended Daiwa sensor (Its only about £5 on ebay).

Just a few things i can think off at the momment. I'll try to add more later mate:- Tackle box with hooks, weights, plummets, floats, float stops, etc A decent lightweight chair. Bank sticks with rod rests. Towel/hand wipes Umbrella Rod bag (you may get away with this if you use a telescopic rod) A couple of bait boxes and bait bucket (for mixing ground bait) Catapult. Disgorger/forceps/scissors unhooking mat
Best thing to do regards your end tackle is to get yourself up Pickerings and have a mooch about and see whats available. The guys in there are very helpful.
